Jason Koon Schooled Dan Smith On Shushing Players, Calls Him Obnoxious!

Dan Smith and Jason Koon featured at the recently concluded Triton Poker Series. The duo were involved in a high-stakes game, with both players grinding in the Triton Poker North Cyprus 2023 Main Event. With a title and boatloads of money on the line, things got pretty headed between the duo.

Jason Koon calls Dan Smith obnoxious?

Rob Kuhn posted the video which shows the complete situation. The tweet read, “Dan Smith asks the table to “get a moment” (for the table to stop talking) while thinking pre in a single raise pot. Jason calls him out for doing this all the time. Things are heating up at the 100k main!” (sic)

During the 100K Main Event, Smith was seen demanding that all players be silent at the table. He could ‘get a moment’ and think of how he should play the hand. However, one of the most surprising things during the heated interaction between the New Jersey-born player and Koon was how the former made a demand which he isn’t entitled to beyond making use of time banks as per rules. All this drama was happening preflop which led Koon to say STFU!

Now that’s surely something you don’t expect a pro player like Smith to do before the flop even opens! It would have made sense if the flop was out, so he could at least start making all the possible permutations and combinations as well as calculating the outs, but pre-flop? Really? Citing Smith’s actions, Koon did not shy away from the situation and called him out for shushing other players at the table. He goes on to point out how this is a pattern Smith follows and does all the time!

No matter what Smith did, Koon who recently won his 7th Triton Poker title had the last laugh as he registered a dominant victory in the Triton Cyprus High Roller Series Main Event. He beat out 65 highrollers and walked away with $2,451,082. Smith finished 5th at the same event for a sum of $762,000.

Koon had everything going his way, with fans also supporting his protest against Smith. It remains interesting to see what the Tournament Director thought of the scenario. The situation also goes on to raise the question if a player should be allowed to stop others from talking for their own benefit!
