The Canadian poker star Daniel Negreanu had recently landed himself in a controversy after being banned from Twitch because of his profane outburst during a live stream. A viewer on twitch made rude remarks in the chat section about his wife while Negreanu attempted to win a bracelet in the 2020 WSOP Online Event #24: $400 No-Limit Hold’em 8-Handed.
Once again, in a long line of controversies, it didn’t take long before social media was swept with comments after Jamie Kerstetter posted a video accusing Negreanu for deliberately sabotaging her career. She revealed that he once used his influence as a poker player and had her removed from a commentary team. The American poker star made the allegation on The Rake podcast with Norman Chad and Marle Cordeiro.
Kerstetter couldn’t help herself and posted a video in a cheeky tweet saying “He has hurt my career…he had me removed from a commentary that I was already signed up for.” That, she says, is “because I speak my mind about him and I’m not going to kiss his ass.”
Huge props to @JamieKerstetter for speaking out on how Negreanu has gone out of his way to hurt her career. I know several other people with similar stories. He’s a vindictive and nasty piece of work and I hope Jamie coming forward will encourage others to do the same. pic.twitter.com/HPnjf2cacd

Negreanu has admitted to giving his opinion on commentators, although at first he didn’t specifically single out Kerstetter or respond to her claims. He later tweeted how poker fans and people have disagreed in outrage. He even said that he is entitled to his opinion and will not sway away from the truth. Talking about an audition for The Big Game commentary gig, in which commentators Bart Hanson and Joe Stapleton auditioned many years ago. Negreanu did share his opinion in which according to him Stapes was more fit for the role which landed ‘stapes’ the job. Irish pro David K Lappin, a long-time foe of Negreanu sided Kerstetter and uploaded a couple of tweets highlighting 6-time bracelet winner’s comments in the Kerstetter case.
Would like to hear @RealKidPoker respond to this before casting judgment.
Was this a case of Daniel requesting his favorite commentator (Nick Schulman)? Or did he deliberately go out of his way to hurt Jamie over some sort of grudge?

Negreanu might have bitten off more than he can chew here. Kerstetter is well-known in the poker industry, but it is now only becoming clear just how much respect she has. This isn’t just people piling into Negreanu, they genuinely feel that Kerstetter is a more than worthy commentator. To be removed on the advice of Negreanu is a step too far.
Kerstetter also has the skills to back up her commentary. As a player she has won over $682K in lifetime earnings and as a commentator she worked her way through Poker Night in American shows, as well as WPT and Heartland Poker Tour gigs. The fact she is very likeable and has ignited a spark in the recent news against the Canadian star. For more updates on poker around the world, keep reading GutshotMagazine.com stay tuned!
