IOPC Day 1: Anuj Yadav, Aniket Waghmare Nail Top Spots


The much-awaited India Online Poker Championship (IOPC) has finally kick-started on the virtual felts of Spartan Poker, PokerHigh and BLITZPOKER. And oh, what a high octane start to an exciting series with the advertised guarantee at all events being crushed. Here’s what went down on Day 1 of the series:

IOPC #1 Launch Party – ₹15 Lakh GTD

The spectacular series started with the Launch Party tournament. The event had a colossal number of entries—3,185 out of which 1,675 were unique players, 516 re-entries and 994 rebuys. Launch Party surpassed its initial guarantee to generate a final prize pool of ₹15,92,500. The top 319 places finished in the money and the min-cash stood at ₹1,274.

Mystery player ‘aggshank’ topped the table to win the tournament for ₹2,63,081. ‘Indian_sardar’ finished second for ₹1,43,802.

IOPC #2 – ₹10 Lakh GTD

IOPC #2 was an action-packed tourney with 735 total entries (355 unique players, 109 re-entries and 271 rebuys) battling it out. The top 63 places took home a portion of the final prize pool—₹11,02,500 which surpassed the event’s initial guarantee by a small margin. The min-cash stood at ₹4,795.

Dinesh Pilkhwal aka ‘$Lucky Guy$’ nailed the tourney for ₹1,63,023. At the runner-up spot, ‘soulreader’ cashed ₹1,34,801.

IOPC #3 – ₹5 Lakh GTD

The advertised guarantee of this tournament was also surpassed and the final prize pool stood at ₹5,97,600. The tourney saw participation from 365 entries, 62 re-entries and 320 rebuys. The top 63 places made it in the money and the min-cash stood at ₹2,599.

Mystery player ‘YoungPrince’ and Sameer Agarwal aka ‘_chipsy_’ ended the tourney in a deal and pocketed ₹82,658 and ₹82,022 respectively.

IOPC #4 Monster Stack – ₹9 Lakh GTD

Monster Stack mildly surpassed its initial guarantee to generate a final prize pool worth ₹10,36,000. Out of the massive number of entries—1,295, 613 were unique players, 172 were re-entries and 510 rebuys were recorded. The top 111 places finished in the money. This event paid a min-cash of ₹2,590.

Anonymous player ‘chiku16’ claimed the winning title for ₹1,95,700. Online reg and IOPC July 2021 commentator Goonjan Mall finished second for ₹1,19,243.

IOPC #5 Thursday Prime – ₹40 Lakh GTD

Thursday Prime surpassed its original guarantee and generated a final prize pool of ₹40,76,000. The top 103 places were paid. 495 unique players, 215 re-entries and 309 rebuys formed a total of 1,019 entries at the event which was pretty impressive. The min-cash at this event stood at ₹11,005.

IOPC January 2021 Mastermind and Millionaire Legends winner, Aniket Waghmare aka ‘TakingSouls’ shipped the tourney for ₹6,54,810 and mystery player ‘Dr.aasthaa’ grabbed ₹5,89,591 at the runner-up spot.

  • Places paid: 103
  • Min-cash: ₹11,005

IOPC #6 Thursday Spotlight – ₹20 Lakh GTD

Thursday Spotlight generated a final prize pool of ₹20,52,000. 345 entries, 96 re-entries and 243 rebuys were seen battling for the top spot. The top 63 places made it in the money and the min-cash stood at ₹8,926.

Anuj Yadav aka ‘tittooTauji’ nailed the title for ₹2,88,527, while Sanket Arora aka ‘GentleMonster’ finished second for ₹2,73,398.

  • Min-cash: ₹8,926

IOPC #7 All Rounder – ₹11 Lakh GTD

The last tournament of the day was the All Rounder event, which also surpassed its initial guarantee to record a prize pool of ₹11,37,000. Out of the total 758 entries, 384 were unique players, 122 were re-entries and 252 rebuys were recorded. The top 71 places were paid and the min-cash stood at ₹4,320.

Mystery player ‘papajiaagaye’ shipped the All Rounder title  and added ₹2,19,441 to the bankroll, while Ashish Pareek aka ‘X– factor’ finished second for ₹1,38,259.
