India’s first multiplayer cricket VR game launched

Sachin Saga VR is the name of India’s first multiplayer cricket virtual reality game. JetSynthesys, the VR game developer based out of Pune, partnered with the Master Blaster himself to create the VR game. The launch announcement was made yesterday at the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) India Gaming Show (IGS), which was a 3-day international gaming, animation and infotainment show in New Delhi.

Cricket is a hugely popular sport in India and lakhs of cricket fanatics put Tendulkar next to God. For JetSynthesys to partner with Tendulkar means that the venture is in good hands. The VR game is up for grabs in an all-inclusive bundle. The bundle will include the limited-edition headset, Bluetooth controller and the Sachin Saga VR Game and will be sold exclusively on vr.sachinsaga.com.

The company’s website captures the idea of launching the VR game: ‘22 Yards right in your Living Room.’ Among the features of the headset – it will give you a 360-degree view of the whole pitch and will have 42mm diameter HD Optical Lenses. The original price of the bundle is INR 1,799 but it is offered currently at a discounted price of INR 1,499.

The company also promises high-end graphics, real-time shadows and motion captured by Tendulkar himself, which are available in 28 unique cricketing shots. With this, players can almost literally play in Tendulkar’s shoes and relive some magnificent shots from his career.

The VR Headset won’t just be locked to the Sachin Saga VR game but can also be used to play over 3,000 other apps compatible with Google Cardboard, including educational apps, exploration apps and such.

Speaking at the launch event, Tendulkar said, “With VR, for the first time, the lines between gaming and real blur to give gamers an accurately simulated experience of the stadium, with real-time action right on their mobile screens. I thoroughly enjoyed reliving my matches with Sachin Saga VR, and I am sure it will resonate with cricket fans and gamers all over the world.

The virtual reality gaming industry is booming and giants like PokerStars have also entered the market recently by launching their VR app which was popular, as per Steam reviews.
