Indian Gamers Launch Petition Demanding Sony To Restock PlayStation 5

Indian gamers are upset over the unavailability of the new PlayStation 5 in India, ergo they have started an online petition for Sony to restock the consoles in the country. India stands among the top 10 gaming nations and is one of the rapidly growing markets for online gaming companies. According to a recent report, Indian gamers spent almost 8 hours 36 minutes a week playing online games, which makes the demand for consoles quite obvious. And with the latest and much-awaited Sony’s PS5 being unavailable, the gamers surely have something to frown over. 

India’s gaming community has now spent months waiting for the consoles to be restocked but unfortunately still couldn’t see any change in the situation. While Sony is being unresponsive on the issue, the dejected gamers turned to Change.org to sign a petition requesting Sony to restock the PS5 console at the earliest.

The petition was started this weekend by SV Yesvanth Kumar, a Bengaluru-based gamer. Like the other unhappy gamers, he aims at bringing this issue to Sony’s notice, so that the gaming giant does not ignore the Indian gaming community. The petition is addressed to Sony India and PlayStation India.

The much-awaited console was launched in November last year in the US and then in February 2021 in India. Since then there has been no stock of the console in India the petition states. So far the petition has garnered over 6,000 signatures so far exceeding the 5000 signatures goal set by Kumar. You may show your support by signing the petition here.

Though the official console is not available in the markets, it’s not difficult to find it in the grey markets. Its unavailability at the retail price through official channels encourages the ‘scalpers’ in the grey market, who stock-up the consoles as soon as they’re available and later sell them in the grey markets for a much higher price. This also endangers Sony’s loyal customers who might switch to other brands due to the unavailability.
