Google to lift US ban on online casino advertising

The third biggest brand in the world after Amazon and Apple, Google announced its plan to change its advertising policies around the US for online casino gaming. According to an EGR report, Google is set to lift the ban by the first quarter of 2020 taking advantage of the growing market in the US.

The gambling sites are restricted in most US states, however, last month Indiana, Iowa, Montana, Rhode Island and Pennsylvania were allowed sports betting ads. Google had previously lifted the ban in New Jersey, Nevada, and West Virginia. The company also announced that it will now allow gambling ads in Kenya, Nigeria, and Colombo which would lead to operators benefitting from Google Ads, Google Display Network and YouTube.

A widely used search engine, Google will definitely have a significant impact on the success of any business. By lifting this limitation and allowing the online casinos to advertise, the company will soon open new opportunities to reach out to various audiences. This step will certainly change the situation of the online gaming industry in a positive way.

Google Industry Head of Financial Trading and Egaming Chris Harrison stated, “For us, regulation is a huge signal and will be the building block of anything we do. We also take into consideration the norms and acceptance of gambling in any given state. We must recognize customer concerns and face those as well. So, it’s far from black or white in terms of opening up and allowing advertisers to use Google’s products and platforms.”

The new policy will advertise specific types of games and bonuses to players and other benefits to the enthusiasts of online casino gaming. Lifting the ban will ease access to all the games and casino fans who would like to play and search for the same independently. Although Google doesn’t intend to become a service provider of casino games in the future, the change is just to align with the current scenario within the online gambling industry.
