GGPoker Launches Poker Integrity Council

GGPoker recently launched a Poker Integrity Council (PIC), which will initiate an industry-wide effort to protect the honour of poker. The council will investigate all the allegations of cheating by conducting fair reviews and thus enforcing action on the most heinous cheaters. 

The council consists of well-known community members, who will be responsible for independently investigating any suspicious behaviour flagged at the tables of GGPoker. The council has also signed poker pro Jason Koon as the GGPoker Integrity Ambassador of PIC.

The council’s mission statement states, “The mission of the Poker Integrity Council (PIC) is to protect the integrity of the poker industry by investigating allegations of cheating, conducting fair and independent reviews, and enforcing industry-wide sanctions for the most egregious cheaters.”

Every case brought before the council will go through the following process:

• DETECTION – Any suspicious behaviour such as collusion, botting, use of real-time assistance (RTA) or ghosting is detected on GGPoker will be immediately flagged for review
• REVIEW – The hand history and more regarding the said matter, will be reviewed by Koon as well as members of the Poker Integrity Council. The details of the players involved will be made anonymous before the review, to ensure a fair process. 
• RULING – After thorough review, the council members will independently vote on whether disciplinary action is required or not.

If disciplinary action is needed, the player will be warned about their behaviour, their account will be suspended or permanently banned by GGPoker. It may also include a permanent ban combined with confiscation of funds. 

In the most serious cases, the player can also be added to the industry’s blacklist. GGPoker’s PIC has partnered with the industry’s biggest live poker tours and venues, including the World Series of Poker (WSOP), World Poker Tour (WPT), Triton Poker, Poker After Dark, Kings Casino, Asian Poker Tour (APT) among others. Once a player is blacklisted, he/she will be barred from entering any events hosted by PIC allies. This step is to ensure the protection of the wider poker community.

With the help of the Poker Integrity Council, GGPoker can also review the status of players who have been previously blacklisted from the online poker room upon request from the players. Additionally, in certain circumstances, the council can also remove or reduce the bans currently enforced.

The Poker Integrity Council members will have the right to review and vote on the cases brought before the council.

Koon, who is the first-ever GGPoker Integrity Ambassador, said, “I joined GGPoker with an important objective in mind; to help the GGPoker team make their poker games more secure and fair than ever. It’s an honor to launch the Poker Integrity Council and take another massive step in ensuring online poker is safe for all players. Our long list of allies also means that the wider community will be better protected via the industry-wide blacklist; we’re sending a united message that there’s no place in this game for cheaters.”

A press conference regarding the Poker Integrity Council is scheduled to take place at Bally’s Las Vegas Hotel and Casino on Tuesday, 5th July 2022.
