When Gerard Pique Participated In EPT Barcelona Main Event

Former football star Gerard Pique has been making headlines off the field too. After retiring from football in November 2022, the former FC Barcelona defender has been working on his football tournament, which has already gained massive popularity.  

Pique has a taste for poker and is often seen featuring on the poker tables during his downtime. Just like Sergio Aguero, the Spanish player was seen enjoying his time at EPT Barcelona 2023!

Recently, the footballer was seen playing the €50K Super High Roller Second Chance. Gerard Pique managed to outlast a talented field before being eliminated in the sixth position. The 35-year-old managed to be in the money and walk away with €60,000 in winnings. 

Speaking of his final hand in the EPT Barcelona 2023 €50K Super High Roller Second Chance, Pique made a call with his last 220,000 while facing Tsugunari Toma. Pique (A♠ J ♠) took on Toma (10♠ 4♦) and the flop opened Q ♣ K ♠ J ♥. Pique hit a pair and Toma had a straight draw. 

The 8♠ on the turn handed Pique the nut flush draw. However, the A♣ popped up on the river as the entire table gasped as Toma improved to a straight. The football legend was sadly eliminated but many applauded his poker skills and his deep run in the tournament.

Gerard Pique was the final player to be eliminated as the players decided to wrap up the play on Day 1 of the event. Following the footballer’s elimination, the remaining five players were guaranteed at least a min-cash of €110,600.  Eventually, Tom Orpaz shipped the tournament for €442,440 and a shiny new trophy.

As per Hendon Mob the former footballer sits 38th on the Spain All Time Money List. He has recorded total live earnings around $738,611 with his best live cash sitting at $392,515.  Post retirement, the Spaniard might have some free time on his hand and could be expected on the poker table soon!
