Indian-origin player Gaurav Law had made it to Day 2 of the $5,300 High Roller of Merit Poker Western Series 2023. Law is 17th in chip counts. In all, there are 69 players who have survived to Day 2 of the High Roller event. The $5,300 buy-in event has $475,000 as its prize pool and the total entries stood at 95. With the average chip stack being 137,681, Law sits with 220,000 chips in his kitty which is decently above the number of the average stack. How the Dubai-based player turns this game around for him would be an interesting thing to observe. The play for Day 2 of the High Roller event will begin tomorrow at 8 PM local time.
For the unversed, Merit Poker 2023 High Roller is being hosted at Merit Crystal Cove Hotel and Casino, Kyrenia, Cyprus. The series runs from 16th to 27th January 2023 and currently the High Roller has moved into Day 2 of its play. Day 1 of the $5,300 High Roller event ended after six hours of intense play through eight levels. At the end of Day 1 we have the United Kingdom’s Andrew Hulme as the chip leader with 359,000 at his disposal to battle it out on Day 2. Top 10 stacks at the end of Day 1 include names like Roman Kolotiuk (332,000), Vladislav Ivanov (330,000), Mohamad El-Sayed (330,000), and Recep Aydemir (314,000).

Talking about the Indian-origin player, Law reportedly hails from Pune but is now based in Dubai. He appeared at the World Series of Poker (WSOP), four times and all those he managed to convert into cashes. Law made his first appearance at the coveted series in the year 2011, followed by 2015 and 2021. In WSOP 2015, he finished 22nd in Event #62: $1,500 No-Limit Hold’em Bounty for a payday of $9,534. Law also grabbed a prize money worth $18,106 in WSOP 2011 at Event #36: $2,500 No-Limit Hold’em. When it comes to WSOP, Law’s total earnings stand at $31,276.

Law also marked his presence at the DPT July 2018 edition. Here, the player finished as the second runner-up in the 15K Deep Dive NLH event for ₹4,56,000. The 15K Deep Dive tournament finally crowned Jasven Saigal as its winner for ₹10,77,000. The final table of this event also had popular names like Eka Vedantham – 2nd for ₹7,14,000, Som Shekhar –7th for ₹1,78,000 and Shashank Desai – 8th for ₹1,38,000.
