Rocket League: A Top-Grade Football Game

Rocket League recently made headlines as a lawsuit was filed against Epic Games, the parent company of the game alleging that Epic had “breached state consumer protection laws, prevented minors from exercising their contractual disaffirmation rights, and negligently misrepresented the value of its in-game items in connection with its Fortnite and Rocket League video games.” Epic Games denied the allegations but it settled the lawsuit by providing in-game currency to affected players. Rocket League players will be credited 1000 in game credits. 

What is Rocket League?

Rocket League, released in 2015 is a video game that lets you play football in an unusual manner. Instead of players engaging in the game, cars can play football. Yes, you heard us right. It is soccer but humans swapped with cars. Players are actually seated in the car and drive the vehicle to score a goal.

The game comes with many new twists, such as cars jumping and boosts for the vehicle that can be picked up with the use of a map. The cars can remain in the air and smack the ball when required. The football gets attached to the roof of the car when any player touches it. Passing the ball has also been made easier as players can dodge and pass the game. The game also has a new limited-time football mode which is called ‘Gridiron’ and according to which four teams can compete against each other. Players can engage in a four-on-four match with an actual American football instead of a soccer ball. 

The points system is also quite different from usual as when a player in a car makes a goal, the player gets 3 points while his team gets 7 points. The game has an ‘Effect Intensity’ setting option that lets players adjust the motion and intensity of visuals for every arena. When a player chooses the default option the map will remain as is. The low option lets you disable pulsing effect, flash lights, reduce the movement of background visuals, intensity of background lights etc.

This game will surely make it big in the industry as not much has been experimented with the framework of a game like football.
