Mobster Frank Cullotta Passes Away at 81 due to Covid-19

Legendary mobsters have always been in the history of Las Vegas. Frank Cullotta, one among them passed away due to coronavirus. Last Thursday morning, the 81-year-old was admitted at a hospital in Las Vegas and as sources said, “He was suffering from a variety of ailments, including COVID-19.” A native of Chicago, Cullotta, moved to Vegas in the 1970s. He was a childhood friend and right-hand man of Anthony ‘The Ant’ Spilotro, a Vegas mobster who was played by the actor Joe Pesci in the 1995 Martin Scorsese film ‘Casino’.

The two have been known for the way they staged burglaries and shook the entire city for a certain period of time. When Cullotta arrived in Sin City, he formed a group of criminals known as the ‘Hole in the Wall gang’. They staged burglaries all over the city and got this name because of the way they drilled through walls and ceilings to gain access to businesses and residences without setting off alarms. Frank and his group of criminals staged the burglaries while Anthony Spilotro took his cut. Eventually one of the crimes they committed landed Frank in jail which eventually put Anthony on target. It also sparked the fear that he would be the target of a hit put out by Anthony and hence Frank decided to enter witness protection and testified against his friend.

Frank requested his release from witness protection a few years after Spilotro was assassinated in 1986. After Frank was released, he used his mobster past and made a career out of it. According to a report, Frank worked as a consultant for the Scorsese film and even made a cameo as a hit man in the movie. He wrote memoirs and created his own YouTube channel “Coffee with Cullotta” documenting the mob’s influence on Las Vegas and created a “Vegas Mob Tour.”

Las Vegas also has the nickname of Sin city due to the top-notch business that takes place there. The death of Cullotta has again raised the question of the severity of coronavirus. Despite the spread of the virus, many casinos across Las Vegas have opened up during the pandemic with safety measures. For more updates on Casinos and crime lords, keep reading  GutshotMagazine.com
