Former WSOP Main Event Champs Johnny Chan And Greg Raymer Qualify For ME Day 2


The fourth of July celebration was filled with excitement, fireworks, and drinking beers to cap off the night with the theme being common all across America and World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event. While the Americans were celebrating the occasion, there were 1,118 players from all around the world who were busy grinding at the the Horseshoe Casino Las Vegas playing in Day 1B of Event #76: $10,000 WSOP Main Event No-Limit Hold’em World Championship.

Following an exciting five two-hour levels, 819 players advanced to Day 2ABC. While quite a few players managed to make it to the next day there were two notable names who caught the eye. Former WSOP Main Event champs Johnny Chan and Greg Raymer, alongside Patrik Antonius managed to qualify via Day 1B.

These two former Main Event champions jumped into the Day 1B with Raymer getting down to within no time, the 2004 champion doubled his stack quite early and finished the day with 201,400 chips. Chan, on the other end, also built up his stack over various and bagged 218,000 chips ahead of the next day.

Jean-Pierre van der Spuy, finds himself leading the pack with an online grinder grabbing the number one spot in the dying moments of Day 1B. Boasting a stack of 287,000, Van der Spuy will look to make his first one count in the WSOP 2023 Main Event. The South African is a big name in online poker but is yet to record a live tournament score.

Following Spuy is Julien Martini with the four-time bracelet winner sitting with 284,700 chips against the tally. Yuze Ding slots in third place with 284,500 chips after battling on the same table as Martini throughout the day.
