How were you introduced to poker? How long have you been playing poker for?
During my college days, I used to watch the WPT final tables on television. At that particular time, I was not aware of anything related to poker, so I decided to read about it. I started playing basic tournaments for INR 20 on the Zynga application. The first live tournament that I attended was the India Poker Championship event that took place in 2010 on Casino Royale. Since that day I have played almost every live event in Goa.
Since you are a recreational player, what is your day job like?
Many people think my day job is poker, but actually, I have a transportation business and our head office is in Goa.

What was your process of learning poker?
I do not have a personal coach so the only training that I got was during the three seasons of Poker Sports League (PSL). I mostly watch tutorials and hand review videos online. Recently, I started using softwares like ICMizer and Holdem Resources Calculator (HRC).
Has the routine of poker ever affected your business?
I have always maintained a good balance between work and poker.
What is your bankroll management like?
I was very bad at bankroll management (BRM) and of late I have been getting a little more disciplined when it comes to BRM. As this is one of the most important things in poker; one needs to be comfortable with the stakes that they play to enjoy the game and get good results. You should never play with money you can’t afford to lose.
Which poker players do you admire from the International poker circuit?
I have always considered Tom Dwan as my idol.
As a poker player, where do you see yourself five years down the line?
I wish to see myself win a lot more titles and some WSOP bracelets too.
Pereira has been juggling between his business and poker like a true multitasking pro. Poker players like him prove to be an inspiration for newbies in the industry who are trying to find their footing in the Indian poker circuit.
