Esports is in its nascent stages in Nepal but champions from that region have already lifted several world-acclaimed titles. DRS Gaming (Da Real Soldiers), a team of five players, recently lifted the title of PUBG Mobile Pro League (PMPL) Season 3 South Asia a few days ago. The team considers itself the soldier of esports in Nepal and has been working towards it. The esports culture in Nepal is growing steadily. This group of players has set a benchmark for esports in the country. Gutshot got in touch with the team to know more about how they play, their strategies, and more.
Tell us about the players that form DRS Gaming.
Five roasters make up the team of DRS Gaming. Ugyen Tshopel Lama aka ‘DRSXMAFIANINJA,’ Ajay Shrestha aka ‘DRSxAJ,’ Pemba Gyaljen Lama aka ‘DRSGYALZEN,’ Nima Tamang ‘DRSxNIMA,’ and Anjan Rai aka ‘DRSxMRBORO.’
How was this team formed?
Talking about the formation of the team, they were from different teams and one of the founders of a different team contacted them to form a new team as they were the best players representing Nepal. They were happy with the roaster so it was formed.

How was the name ‘DRS Gaming’ chosen?
The name DRS Gaming was chosen as Nepal is known for having brave shoulders. So, we consider ourselves to be the real soldiers of Nepal in the field of esports.
Are the players into full-time esports or do they play only recreationally?
They only play recreationally as they are students as well.
How did the team face PUBG Mobile Pro League Season 3?
The team was fully hyped for the event. And as they were also the runners-up at the PMPL S2. They were fully prepared and charged for this championship tournament series.

How was the preparation for such a huge tournament like?
The preparations were quite good. The boys played the games as much as required and did not leave a single chance to grind hard. As a result of all the hard work, we got the title of champions home.
Are there any funny anecdotes that happened during the PUBG Mobile Pro League (PMPL) S3 South Asia matches? If yes, please share them with us.
The last match itself was quite funny as well as scary for all of us as the only member who was left was Nima. He was underwater. We were laughing so hard but were equally scared. 😆😆
Which bootcamp is the team associated with?
We currently have a permanent bootcamp in Kathmandu, Nepal.
Could you elaborate on the procedure of team selection?
Talking about the team selection, we just went for the best In Game Leader (IGL), the country could offer including the best assaulters.
What is the go-to strategy that the team opts for?
The go-to strategy that we always employ is to get the drop location and loot whatever is required. This helps us to start the rotation as directed by IGL.
How many hours should an ideal player contribute if they wish to participate in bigger tournaments like the PMPL?
As the head of operations and a keen observer of the team, I believe a player should contribute at least 8-10 hours every day.
The top nine teams from the leaderboard for the PMPL regional finals will get to battle for the regional championship. How is DRS Gaming going to approach those tournaments?
DRS Gaming will always go for trophies, that has always been the main goal of the team. The team will alternate between aggressive as well as passive gameplay according to the situation
As a winning team, where do y’all see yourself in the next five years?
In the next five years, we will try to play other games as well. We will also continue our esports journey.
DRS Gaming is one of the biggest esports teams in the world. We look forward to seeing the team perform exceptionally well at the global championship and all the other competitions that they will be participating in the future. The team will be competing at the regional championship and we hope they lift the winning title.
