Eric Persson Shows JRB The Middle Finger For Folding AK In A $435,400 Pot?

Do you expect decency from a loud mouth? Not sure right? What if we tell you the loud mouth in question is Eric Persson? Your answer will mostly be no, isn’t it? But why are we talking about decency and Persson? We have a perfectly sound reason to discuss Persson and the lack of decency from his end while grinding in Season 10 of High Stakes Poker’s Episode 12. 

What the hell happened? Persson was in some terrific mood as he threw money around in order to pull off a massive bluff. When we say bluff, it is not an ordinary one! $435,400 was on line and Persson wanted to win so badly that he kept away from his trashy table talk and focused real hard on his bluff. 

Sadly his opponent Jean-Robert Bellande fell for that sleek bluff and folded AK! Persson did not even spare a second to rub salt on his rival’s wound by showing his middle finger (both hands) after he nailed the $435,400 pot (classic Persson was on full display).

Imagine a battle of A9 vs AK, we know the balance is heavily tilted towards AK but whoever believes in the Big Slick did not account for Persson’s bluffing skills which are high and mighty. Take a look at how the hand unfolded on High Stakes Poker. Fun fact: Six-time World Series Of Poker (WSOP) bracelet winner, Daniel Negreanu was sitting at the table watching it all go south for Bellande. 

Preflop sees Robl (KQo) raise to $5,000 which Jennifer Tilly (3s 3h) Persson (A9s) and Bellande (As Kc) call. The dealer fans out a flop of 5c 6d Ac. The action was checked by all till it reached Bellande who bet $12K and Persson called it. Here, Tilly and Robl folded and left the other two players to lock horns. And oh boy the two men were looking to dig each other’s graves whilst keeping faith in their respective Ace-pair. 

The dealer then reveals the turn card as 10d and Persson checks his option which Bellande turns into a bet of $30K which Persson matched without even blinking once. River brought 8d which helped neither of the warring players but Bellande from the button threw $65K into the pot which led to Persson thinking very carefully about his next move. Everyone around was sure that Bellande’s rival would bow out of the hand, but no, he decided to go for a raise with $265K after all that Academy Award worthy acting. 

Persson left the ball in Bellande’s court who was tanking and looked like he was having a Titanic moment (that sinking feeling hurts). Bellande who’s fondly called JRB spoke his mind about Persson play and even complimented his game. What he does next will baffle you! 

 

JRB reveals his cards before making any move. Everyone on the table knew he had AKo. But the decision was still pending, and Bellande did not shy away from blaming Persson on playing the rich man card. Money is mighty and Bellande made it amply clear that he wasn’t in a position to lose a sum of that magnitude. 

The moment finally came when Bellande folded his hand and requested Persson to throw his cards into the muck as he was in no mood to see a bluff at Persson’s end. But Mr. A9o turned his cards over to show Bellande that his AK was indeed a better hand among the two and that he fell for a bluff, hook, line and sinker.
