After 27 astonishing flight tournaments, 4,092 entries fought hard to reach the final table (FT) of Event #27: $5,000 WSOP Main Event, which offers a massive guarantee of $2,00,00,000. Edson Tsutsumi Jr. aka ‘CrownUpTsu’ is leading the FT. The remaining eight players are Aleksei Vandyshev aka ‘Ha KoJleHu,’ Joe Serock aka ‘assisup4rent,’ Espen Jorstad aka ‘COVFEFE-19,’ Christine Do aka ‘Yunaa,’ Nikita Kuznetsov Kuznetsov aka ‘VSMPZD,’ Dawid Smolka, Renan Meneguetti aka ‘legal’ and Dimitrios Farmakoulis.
Day 2 kick-started with 560 survivors from the flight tournaments and quickly escalated to 720 as the final Day 1 qualifiers could only enter after Day 2 began owing to an overlap of tourneys. GGPoker ambassadors and other well-known pros at this event included names like Felipe Ramos, Michael Addamo, Chris Moorman, Kitty Kuo, Georgios Sotiropoulos, and Kahle Burns.
The eliminations on Day 2 came quick and hard. Within four levels players knew what the bubble looked like. Brian Fairfax aka ‘Kommon34’ was the bubble boy at the 451st spot. Fairfax flopped a pair of nines but sadly lost to the pocket kings of ‘yoellalaska.’
The short stacked players made sure of securing their min-cash. Some players who made money but got busted later included names like Shawn Buchanan, Mark Radoja, Elix fox, and David Peters. Only three tables were left when the action hit level 17. Dawid Smolka, Espen Jorstad, Matthew Wakeman, Mike Leah, Joe Serock, and Day 1 chip leader, Luigi Shedhadeh aka ‘shadinho94’ were fighting for a seat on the FT.
Jorstad finished as the chip leader on several occasions but lost some medium-sized pots especially against Christine Do. The poker drama intensified when Do doubled through Jorstad on two occasions during the final table battle. The former will enter the battle with the fifth highest chip stack. Interestingly, Do is the second woman to final table a WSOP $5,000 No-Limit Hold’em Main Event in the consecutive years.
Wenling Gao had finished second in the 2020 WSOP $5,000 No-Limit Hold’em Main Event. The final table drama will resume with the blinds being rolled back to 300,000/600,000 and an ante of 75,000 to have an average stack of at least 40 big blinds.
