Dustin Bailey Randomly Bought Into The 250K WSOP HR And Ended Up Day 1 Chip Lead

The World Series of Poker (WSOP) is one of the biggest poker tournaments in the world. Often considered to be the biggest poker show on the planet, the ongoing 54th edition is hosted at the Horseshoe and Paris Las Vegas. The WSOP 2023 has captured a lot of eyeballs of poker enthusiasts across the globe.

Given the excitement and thrill alongside the possibility of walking away with a heavy-duty payday, we often see thousands of casual poker fans test themselves in the game and feature in WSOP. It is no surprise to see a ton of poker enthusiasts take a stab at WSOP events and fight it out against pros in the search for glory each year. Many are seen randomly stumbling in events most of the time; such players end up entering low-level tournaments whose buy-in sits at $1,500 or below.

However, while quite a few poker enthusiasts enter WSOP, the case of Dustin Bailey is sure to blow you away as he surprised everyone when he randomly entered Event #40: $250,000 Super High Roller.

Dustin Bailey in WSOP 2023

Yes, you read it right, Bailey randomly entered the $250,000 Super High Roller event, one of the most expensive bracelet events. To put some context in simple words, this unknown poker player spent $250K to compete in just one poker tournament, which he could spend on buying a condo in any of Las Vegas’ neighbourhoods.

If this didn’t shock you enough, he chose to play an event which featured the likes of Phil Hellmuth, Daniel Negreanu, former WSOP Main Event winner, Koray Aldemir and Espen Jorstad.

After entering the battling arena, against 69 poker superstars, he not only managed to survive Day 1 Bailey but also bagged the chip lead. He ended the tournament in the 19th place, which can be considered as a decent run while Chris Brewer won the $250,000 Super High Roller at WSOP 2023.
