What is PLO 5?

As the name suggests in PLO 5, the maximum a player can bet depends on the size of the pot. Players will not be able to go all-in like it’s done in No-Limit Texas Hold’em games. The hand rankings in PLO 5 are the same as in Texas Hold’em. However, there are a few rules that are a little different.

While players will be dealt five-hole cards, they have to make a hand using two-hole cards (no more, no less) and three from the community cards. This makes it impossible for players to win a pot with only high cards.

For example, if a player has hole cards 4♣ 5♦ T♦ A♠ 7♣, and the community cards are 2♣ T♠ 8♠ Q♠ K♠, you do not have an A♠-High Flush (8♠ T♠ Q♠ K♠ A♠). Why? Because you have only used one hole card instead two compulsory hole cards. You actually have a pair of T’s (T♦ T♠ Q♠ K♠ A♠).

As PLO 5 follows the same hand ranking system as Texas Hold’em, the highest possible hand that a player can get is a royal flush while the lowest is a high card.
