Daniel Negreanu Has The Last Laugh Against Doug Polk In High Stakes Duel 4

The highly awaited High Stakes Duel 4 Round 2 was hosted on Thursday at the PokerGO Studio in Las Vegas. The previous round of High Stakes Duel happened in May 2023 and saw Daniel Negreanu getting the better of defeating Eric Persson and walk away with $100,000.

The six-time World Series Of Poker(WSOP) bracelet winner progressed to round 2 and was scheduled to face a more ferocious opponent and frenemy, Doug Polk. The second-round match has a $100,000 buy-in for a heads-up clash between Polk and Negreanu.

The duo had squared off in a highly publicised heads-up match in 2021 that saw Daniel Negreanu lose $1.2 Million to Polk in the game. However, after three hours of some intense action, Negreanu managed to get his revenge and defeat Polk in High Stakes Duel 4 Round 2

In what was a match filled with small and medium pots, Negreanu emerged victorious when it mattered the most. The 49-year-old poker pro was methodical in the match against Polk, who’s known as a heads-up specialist.

The final hand of the match saw blinds sitting at $600/$1,200 with Polk holding 9♠ 7♠ while Negreanu had A♦ 10 ♥ with Polk raising to $2,500 from the button, which was called by DNegs. The flop of 6 ♣ K ♣ 8 ♦ popped out and saw the GG Poker ambassador check before calling a bet of $1,700 from Polk, who had an open-ended straight draw.

The turn card in the final hand was A♥ giving Negreanu his Ace-pair. Though ‘KidPoker’ checked he called Polk’s $8,400 bet.The Q ♣ on the river did not have any impact on Negreanu’s hand as he checked for the third time.

Polk decided to move all-in for $54,100 which saw Negreanu take some time to assess the situation before calling it. Soon after displaying his winning hand, Negreanu went over to his opponent’s side and said, “Good game” as Polk also shared the same sentiment.

Daniel Negreanu win High Stakes Dual 4 Round 2

Daniel Negreanu can take the winning amount home and be happy about his $150,000 profit, or ask Polk for a rematch with a $400,000 buy-in. It remains interesting to see Negreanu declares a rematch or decides to walk away on a high note.
