Remember that moment when you wanted to keep your electronic gadgets away for once? Yes, you could do it today. As per the topical calendar, it is ‘Day of Unplugging’ today. And what does this mean?
Day of Unplugging was started by a non-profit Jewish community in 2003. This day was started in order to challenge people to stay away from electronic devices for 24 hours and give themselves a break from it. Reboot – the community believes that time taken off from electronics to reconnect with ourselves makes us happier.
But, we were wondering, how can our poker players celebrate this day?
Land-based casinos in recent times operate in ways that have more and more electronic gaming. Especially since the pandemic, majorly brick-and-mortar casinos have come up with electronic terminals. Casinos now have electronic Baccarat, Blackjack, Roulette, Craps, etc. These machines are an upgrade to the already existing technology, they are something to look forward to. Casino players could start playing games like poker or Indian card game rummy which require no electronic assistance but only a dealer and players.
While this is the current scenario for live casino players, noobs who started out by playing digitally could be in a helpless state if they wish to follow this day. Online poker players will have to call it a day and stay away from virtual felts. Or, they could use ‘Day of Unplugging,’ as a chance to try their hand at the game in a physical set-up.
Other than electronic casino games, young poker players are always caught up in the realm of the digital world. One can take a break from sharing that Instagram memory from years ago, editing a photo to change your display picture, blasting your headphones with your favourite number or playing it loud on a loop.
We got in touch with the charismatic and ever so charming Kunal Patni. This poker pro who captained the winning team, Deccan Aces in the recently concluded Poker Sports League Season 3 Virtual, is a die-hard Instagrammer. Patni says that he cannot stay away from his phone, computer or even the television for that matter. But when it comes to playing poker, Patni has preferences. As casinos are high on their usual hustle-bustle, Patni prefers to have his phone around him as he likes to listen to music while playing his game.
