Battlegrounds Mobile India Series 2021 With ₹1 Crore Prize Pool Announced

Krafton has officially announced the first Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) esports tournament in the country. The tournament will be called ‘Battlegrounds Mobile India Series 2021’ and will feature a massive prize pool of ₹1 crore.

The game was officially launched on July 2nd, 2021. The announcement of the tournament series came soon after the game was released. Rumors had been doing the rounds about the event, however, now it’s officially announced by Krafton. The game developer shared a video on it’s social media handles about the much-awaited tournament series. The video also states that the registrations for the event will begin on July 19th, 2021.

The details of the tournament series have been put up on the official Battlegrounds Mobile India website. BGMI’s first official event will kick-start on August 2nd and will end with the grand finals on October 10th, 2021. 

The two-month long tournament series will feature a colossal prize pool of ₹1 crore, which will be distributed among the top 16 teams. The winning team will receive ₹50 Lakh, whereas the 16th place will receive a sum of ₹10,000. 

Apart from the top 16 teams, there will also be cash prizes for the most valuable player (MVP), the lone ranger, the rampage freak, most finishes by a squad and the redeemer. 

Teams registering for the series will have to play 15 matches between August 2nd to August 8th known as the ‘In-game Qualifiers’. The scores of the top 10 matches will decide which team proceeds to the online qualifiers. The top 1024 teams will proceed to the online qualifiers, scheduled to take place between August 17th to September 12th, 2021. 

The top 64 teams qualifying from the online qualifiers will proceed to the quarter finals that run from September 16th to 26th, 2021. The quarter finals will filter out the best 24  teams that will proceed to the semi-finals. The semi-finals will be hosted between September 30th to October 3rd, 2021.

The top 16 teams from the semi-finals will make it to the finals. The ultimate finale will run from October 7th to October 10th, 2021. The finals will crown one team as the series champion.
