Avneesh Munjal Wins His First Live Title In WPT Opener

India registered its first win at the ongoing World Poker Tour (WPT) Prime Vietnam 2023 series. Avneesh Munjal was the only Indian in the nine-handed final table who took down his maiden live poker title. The winner of this event had a payday of VND 770,000,000 (approx. ₹27,15,265). Munjal beat Ta Nhat Vu from Vietnam in heads-up to nail his first-ever live poker title at the WPT Prime Vietnam 2023. Talking about the runner-up, Vu added VND 540,000,000 to his bankroll for his second place finish. 

Coming to Munjal, this Indian player is also an online reg. When final table of the WPT Opener event began, Munjal was second in chips with 2,420,000 chips (48 BB) behind final table chip lead, Vu Thai Bao who sat with 2,510,000 chips (50 BB). Munjal impressively knocked out seven players on his way to the WPT Opener title, which not only brought him a hefty pay cheque but also significant glory on an international platform.

WPT Opener at the WPT Prime Vietnam 2023

The buy-in for the Opener event at WPT Prime Vietnam is VND 8,800,000 (~US$ 375). The guarantee up for grabs was VND 2,000,000,000 (~US$ 85,280). This tournament had 510 entries with the final prize pool recorded at VND 3,957,600,000 (~US$ 168,750). The top 65 players got paid as the min-cash stood at VND13,500,000 ₹47,606.
