APT Phu Quoc 2023 High Roller – Live Updates

After a successful series in Hanoi last year, Asian Poker Tour (APT) is all set to host another edition in Phu Quoc, Vietnam. The series will take place from 24th March to 2nd April 2023 at the Corona Resort and Casino in Phu Quoc island of Vietnam.

Among the 44 events at the APT Phu Quoc 2023 series is the High Roller event, which is one of the most prestigious events on the schedule. The High Roller event takes place on the 1st and 2nd of April 2023. Players can play this high-value event for a buy-in of VND 55,000,0000 (~$23,248).

Jinwoo Kim Nails The High Roller Title

Jinwoo Kim outlasted a field of 102 entries at this event to grab the APT trophy and a payday of VND 1,263,940,000 ($54,350) after beating Vietnam’s Ngoc Minh Le in the heads-up. Kim had previously won the APT Main Event in Seoul nearly five years ago for ₩26,225,000 ($23,719).

Ngoc Minh Le Eliminated in 2nd Place

Ngoc Minh Le limped the small blind and Jinwoo Kim checked from the big blind. The flop came Q ♠ 8 ♣ J ♦ . Kim checked, and Le bet 160,000. This led to Kim check-raising to 560,000. Le made the call to see the turn of K ♣. Kim bet 900,00. Ngoc tanked and ran out of time and had to make the call. 

A 7 ♦ showed on the river, which led to Kim shoving his entire stack. Le called within his 30 seconds time bank. Kim’s T ❤ 9 ♦ brought bad news to Le, as Kim flopped a straight. Le flipped 8 ❤ 9 ♠. 

Le finished second for VND 870,670,000 ($37,440).

Siddharth Karia out at 26th

Siddharth Karia was all in pre-flop against Yuan Yilu with his remaining stack. Yilu open raised and Karia  3-bet shoved 123,000. The Chinese player called and flipped A ♣ K ♠. Karia on the other hand showed T ♦ T ♠. 

The flop brought A ♠ K ❤  8 ♦ , and Karia slowly began to grab his personal belongings. The Q ♠ brought some relief to Karia, but nonetheless, 5 ♣ on the river ended his tournament life. The last Indian standing took the 26th place without a cash.

Day 2 Begins

The top 31 players from 102 entries have returned to play the Day 2 of High Roller – 8 Max. The event will see first place take home a whopping ₫1,263,940,000 ($54,350) as the top prize. The only Indian survivor in the field is Siddharth Karia, with a stack of 158,00 chips. Nikolay Ponomarenko is leading the field with 807,000 chips
