European Poker Tour (EPT) Cyprus 2024 is making headlines with their recent events. Indian poker player Apoorva Goel, has just bowed out of the Mystery Bounty event, taking a cash prize of $7,860 + mystery bounties. The buy-in for this event was $3,000 and the announced prize pool was $1,509,072. The event saw 894 entries, and only 15 players remained in play as the day cleared.
Goel bowed out at 27th place, before him to exit was Ekaterina Fediaeva, who took home $6,840. Jacques Der Megreditchian, who took home $7,860, finished at 26th place. While Goel’s run at this particular event is officially over, it remains to be seen when and where the veteran player will return to the live felts.
Goel has grabbed the poker headlines several times in the past few years. Just this year, Goel reached Day 2 of the EPT Pairs 2024 Main Event. Goel has also been in High Roller events at EPT 2023 and 2024. In 2023, he took part in the EPT Paris High Roller event, finishing 40th and he took home €18,800. In 2024, he placed 63rd and took €17,950. It is a commendable feat for Goel to continue playing poker for almost decades, and cashout at most of the events that he has taken part in.
He has also seen some WSOP action, taking home money in two events of WSOPE 2022, Rozvado, the WSOPE Main Event and the Mini Main Event, where he took home €18,069 and €2,076 respectively. Goel has been playing for decades, with his first recorded cash-in back in 2009, when he took home $1,393 at the PokerStars Macau Poker Cup at the HK$ 2,700 + 300 No Limit Hold’em.
