Alex Foxen leads Day 1A of WSOP Europe Main Event

The World Series of Poker is undoubtedly among the biggest names in poker across the globe and during this time each year, they host a mini-series at the Kings Casino in Rozvadov, Czech Republic. This year, we have 15 bracelet events lined up and as we reach the final week of the series, the Main Event has also kicked off.

Event #14: €10,350 Main Event NLHE started with Day 1A yesterday and attracted 194 entries, which was more than three times the amount witnessed on the first flight of this tournament last year. At the end of the flight, 113 of them bagged their chips to move on to Day 2 of the prestigious tournament, which was shipped by Jack Sinclair in 2018.

US pro Alex Foxen was the best on the tables yesterday, ending the day with a hefty 537,200 chips, which is way above the average stack of around 171k. Anton Morgenstern is second in chips with 460,000 while Ukraine’s Oleh Okhotskyi rounds up the top three with a stack of 433,900.

With a busy schedule home in India including the recently concluded Baazi Poker Tour (BPT) and World Poker Tour (WPT) in Goa, the number of Indian players in Kings Casino took a big hit for 2019. We didn’t see any Indians in the first flight of the Main Event, but we hope for a few to participate on Day 1B today.

Other notable players int he field yesterday were 4-time bracelet winner Shaun Deeb who is currently among the top ten stacks with 343,300 chips, Julien Martini (220,000), Anthony Zinno (204,000), Phil Hui (200,200), Davidi Kitai (170,800), Ana Marquez (103,300) and 2013 WSOP Europe champion Adrian Mateos (45,300).
