Akshay Nasa celebrates birthday with Sunday SuperStack title

Here’s one poker player who has been making a lot of progress and taking down a lot of poker titles in recent times, both live and online. Akshay Nasa aka ‘sherlock52’, who turned 24 years old yesterday, is now one to watch out for when it comes to major online tournaments, as well as major live tournaments in India and other parts of Asia.

As a part of yesterday’s Sunday grind, he decided to add a massive amount to his poker bankroll, winning a couple of titles on different websites. To begin with was The Spartan Poker’s Sunday SuperStack tournament, which kicked off at 7:30pm IST and had a guaranteed prize pool of INR 20 lakh. Once again, a huge field of 513 entries registered to the tournament, which beat the guarantee and created a new prize pool of INR 25.65 lakh.

Nasa wished himself a very happy birthday by shipping the tournament and taking home the massive first-place prize of INR 6,66,900, beating ‘omgrachelgreen’ in heads-up, a player who has been winning several titles on Spartan of late. omgrachelgreen continued his hot run, but couldn’t get past Nasa on this occasion, taking away INR 4,10,400 for finishing second.

A total of 50 players were paid out a minimum cash prize of INR 12,825 in this tournament, and it was a really tough field to get past. In the final hand, omgrachelgreen went all-in with 5s Qh and Nasa called with pockets Queens, with the latter winning with Kings and Queens, denying omgrachelgreen another title.

Nasa has been on a great run in poker, recently finishing second in the APPT National, while also winning the Millionaire and a Destiny tournament on Spartan in recent months. Gutshot caught up with him after this win to ask him about the experience. He said, “The tournament was pretty swingy. I luckily got the chip lead just before the final table and won a 3-way all-in QQ vs AQ vs AK on the final table which gave me an overwhelming chip lead in final four and it was easy on from there. It was my birthday yesterday also, so the winning felt really great.”
