Abhishek Goindi has been on a cash-and-win streak in 2024, and that streak continued in August. On Saturday, he won a local daily tournament, Hot Saturday, in Vietnam for around $7,200 (~₹6 Lakh).
Goindi had a good run at WSOP 2024, ranking and earning amounts ranging from $1588 (~₹1,33,000} to $5000 (~₹4 Lakh). On 19th July, he topped the $1,100 No Limit Hold’em—UltimateStack Event #66 of the Venetian DeepStack Championship and took home the prize of $92,264 (~₹77 Lakh).
Goindi is among the few popular poker players in India and has been around for a while. His total live earnings, at the time of writing this article, are $439,330 (~₹4 Crore). He is 23rd on the India All-Time Money List, and his best live cash is $136,244 (~₹1.1 Crore) at the Macau Poker Cup—Red Dragon Event in 2012, where he placed 2nd in the HK$10,120 + 88 No Limit Hold’em.

Goindi is one of the most prolific poker players in India and is mostly seen as a mentor by younger and new poker players who are looking to join the fray. News of his must be heartening to Indian poker players and poker enthusiasts. Few Indian poker players have made it big in foreign and offshore competitions, and Goindi is one of them. Every Indian win in a poker tournament creates a scenario where there’s a greater embracing of the game as a concept in India.

Goindi has been making systematic progress as a poker player and personality. He is one of the few Indian poker players with a verified Instagram account, which is proof of his organic and genuine following, not just in poker but in other realms as well. He was also one of the mentors at the recently concluded Poker Masterclass, a competition/reality show that streamed on JioCinema.
His squad, The Shark Squad, included Subhodeep Paul (West Bengal), Mahima Walia (Karnataka), Shubham Upadhyay (Haryana), Areyann Gurbaxani (Maharashtra), Pranav Baheti (West Bengal), Siddhant Khanna (Delhi), and Tanay Kauntia (Jharkhand). The series itself is unique and one of the first ones in India to stream a live poker game, bringing the game closer to thousands of Indian households. Whether there will be a Season 2 of the series and whether Goindi will be a part of it is anyone’s guess currently.
It remains to be seen which other series Goindi has set his eyes on in the poker circuit and exactly how much the popular Indian poker player wins and gets into his kitty. We at Gutshotmagazine will keep you posted.
