Esports Tournament ‘Gamers Without Borders’ To Donate $10 Million To Vaccine Distribution

Esports charity tournament ‘Gamers Without Borders,’ which made its debut in April last year, returns for its second year with a pledge to donate its $10 million prize fund to the COVID-19 vaccine distribution.

The tournament will take place over a span of nine weeks and will be open for gamers from all across the globe. Gamers of all skill levels will be allowed to participate in the tournament. The tournament which debuted last year was said to be the world’s biggest charity esports festival held in 2020. This year’s season will kick start this Monday, June 7th, 2021.

The six week elite series will feature a prize fund of $10m million will be donated to charity. Some of the best teams from across the world will be seen battling out in this tournament. The winners will be donating their prize fund to charitable initiatives who are working towards the cause of providing the COVID-19 vaccines to some of the vulnerable and affected countries across the world. The theme of the tournament this year is ‘No One Left Behind.’

The tournament will feature titles like Fortnite, Rocket League and Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege. Additionally, the ‘Gamers Without Borders’ community tournaments will ensure that gamers with all kinds of abilities participate and compete for titles such as Overwatch, Tekken 7 and Call of Duty in the virtual studio.

Saudi Arabian Federation for Electronic and Intellectual Sports (Safeis) in partnership with Electronic Sports League (ESL), the world’s largest eSports company, has been organizing the tournament for the second year now. The tournament will be streamed on Gamers Without Borders’ website as well as social media handles.

Last year, the tournament went on for six weeks and attracted 4,60,000 gamers across 141 countries. The tournament also saw special appearances from celebrities like Liam Payne and Snoop Dogg. The organisers have confirmed that this year too the tournament will have celebrity attendees, however the details haven’t been disclosed.

The tournament will be broadcasted in seven different languages and will also feature a fundraiser. The viewers can donate to any charities supported by Gamers Without Borders. Gamers interested in participating can register at gamerswithoutborders.com.
