Dean Hutchison shined brightly at the recently concluded World Series of Poker (WSOP) 2023, having made it to the final table of the WSOP 2023 Main Event. After a memorable outing at the biggest poker series on the planet, Hutchison went on to win the Goliath High Roller Title.
Hutchison was one of 103 entrants in the Goliath High Roller, which boasted a £185,400 prize pool, with the top 11 finishers walking away with a princely sum. Dan Laidlaw was the first player to bust out, ending at 11th place, which saw him earn a £4,100 payout. Laidlaw was soon joined by Colin Gillon, who walked off with £4,400 for his finish. Leo Worthington-Leese claimed ninth place in this high roller event, earning £5,000 to push his live poker lifetime earnings over $1 million.
Jessica Pilkington was handed the eighth place finish, which led to her banking £5,500 and turning the Goliath High Roller into an all-male affair after the elimination. A seventh place awaited Matthew Davenport as he cashed £6,600.
Speaking about the four-figure prize, Sheth earned £8,900, with Joe Newby being the next to fall with his ace-ten losing against James Ivall’s ace-queen. Later, Ryan Otto’s king-jack lost against Hutchison pocket sevens to end in the fourth place, earning £16,600.

Mitchell Speck made his entry into the event via a cashout satellite and turned the £2,000 High Roller seat into £23,500 in winnings when he bowed out in third place. His exit saw Hutchison go heads-up against Ivall, who had also satellited his way into this event.
With just two players left, we saw Dean Hutchison and Ivall go head-to-head for the title. The final hand saw Hutchison hold a five-four while Ivall had a jack-six. The flop of 5J4 opened up, which saw Ivall check-call a 100,000 bet before making a 350,000 bet on the 3c turn. Ivall checked again when the river of Qc opened up. Hutchison moved all-in, and Ivall called with his remaining chips as the former clinched the title.
Dean Hutchison walked away with £55,200 while Ivall pocketed £35,900 runner-up prize. However, a second-place finish still remains an amazing return on his satellite investment into the Goliath High Roller.
