25 Year Old Yunkyu Song Wins WPT Player of the Year Title

The year 2024 is history, and several events in it made history. One of them was the crowning of the new World Poker Tour (WPT) Player of the Year, Yunkyu Song. WPT is one of the biggest brands in the poker industry and hosts some of the most popular tournaments worldwide.

Yunkyu Song’s Poker Journey to WPT Player of the Year

25-year-old Yunkyu Song has gone from strength to strength in his poker journey and has had a stellar year, with multiple wins and achievements to his name. In 2024, he shipped the WPT Playground Championship and took home $164,251. He was also the runner-up at the WPT Bestbet Scramble Championship, where he wrote out a cheque of $252,059 for himself, his highest cash to date. He is currently ranked #89 in the GPI rankings.

Song has certainly made a name for himself and stunned the poker world with his achievements. He saw his first cash as recently as 2022 at the NLH event of the 2022 Aria Resort & Casino Recurring Tournaments, Las Vegas, where he ranked 2nd and took home $1,880. His total live earnings are at $1,430,440.
