WSOPE: Neuville leads Day 1H; Karagogov Day 1I


The 15th bracelet event at the World Series of Poker Europe (WSOPE) has already captured everybody’s attention and each day numerous players are entering the final tournament to grab the last gold bracelet at King’s Casino, Rozvadov. Yesterday wrapped up another busy Day 1H halting with an exciting number of players progressing to Day 2.

The Colossus attracted a massive number of 736 entries, the event managed to secure places for only 85 players progressing to Day 2. If you have been following poker for quite a while, you must know the 75-year-old Pierre Neuville who accumulated total live earnings of over $4.7 million in his entire career. Taking home his career-best live cash in 2015 at WSOP Main Event for $1.2 million and finishing in 7th place. Neuville is a muse for poker industry making notable records and yesterday saw another striking finish, amassing the largest stack of 720,000 chips.

Other notable players with big stacks and closely following the chip leader was Slovakia’s Martin Ilavsky with 539,000 chips, Paul Theobald bagging 515,000 chips at third place, Teodor Popovic with 462,000 chips, Aleksandr Glinskii with 441,000 chips and 2-time bracelet winner Robert Campbell with 374,000 chips.

Other hopefuls who had to end their journey include 2018 WSOP Colossus champion Tamir Segal, Indian duo Pulkit Goyal and Tarun Goyal, 6-time bracelet winner Daniel Negreanu, and 2-time bracelet winner Anthony Zinno were eliminated before the money.

Day 1I drew the second-largest field of 628 entries at the Event #15: The Colossus in the WSOP Europe, boosting the field size to 2,738 entries and creating a prize pool of €1,300,550. The final day of the starting flight saw only 80 players bagging to Day 2. Topping the day and claiming the biggest stack was Yordanov Karagogov with 616,000 chips followed by Rudolf Eberle with 560,000 chips.

Yesterday was the last chance for bracelet winners Anthony Zinno and Daniel Negreanu who finally made through to Day 2 after bagging 261,000 chips and 235,000 chips respectively. Other notable players in contention include Stefan Mital (404,000), Dominique Potenza (395,000), Vladimir Schwarz (372,000), Stefan Raschbauer (359,000), Claudio Di Giacomo (322,000), Jan Ramik (298,000), Bertrand Grospellier (285,000) and Tezer Cetindag (272,000).
