King’s Casino in Rozvadov has been grueling with action ever since the commencement of WSOPE. And yesterday saw Phil Hellmuth battling his way to grab his 16th bracelet but the opportunity was overtaken by Switzerland’s Besim Hot, taking down the Event #10 Mixed Games Championship and adding 2nd gold bracelet along with €385,911 in prize money.
The journey towards the final table was fierce. The event drew a total number of 45 entries, each paying €25,000 buy-in creating a prize pool of €1,068,750. The FT saw 7 players resuming the day with several poker pros in contention including 6-time bracelet winner Daniel Negreanu finishing 6th, 3-time bracelet winner Benny Glaser fell at 4th place while searching for first-ever bracelet win, Dzmitry Urbanovich unfortunately fell at 3rd place.
As the event progressed down to the final 3, Hot took control by taking down big pots playing against Hellmuth who eliminated Urbanovich. In the final hand of the tournament, Hot had Qc Js 9s 7h against his opponent Hellmuth with Ah 9d 4h 3c. The flop came 10c 9h 9d and the latter checked while Hot put forth a 500k bet. Hellmuth check-raised to 2 million while Hot shoved all in along with Hellmuth putting his entire stack in the middle. With Jc on the turn made Hot pace for a full house.
Eventually, the 4c river was where the champion took away the enormous sum of prize money, defeating the Mixed Game specialist. Hot now becomes 2nd ever Swiss champion to win WSOP gold bracelet, now sitting at 1st place in Switzerland’s All-Time money list with his career-best live earnings of $431k.
