WSOP2018: Paawan Bansal makes Colossus Day 3

Day 2 of the $565 Colossus at the 2018 World Series of Poker came to a conclusion just a few hours before and we are now left with 32 players in this event. The USA’s Matthew Causa is sitting on top of the chip counts with over 4.4 million in chips. Event #7: $565 COLOSSUS No-Limit Hold’em drew a total of 13,070 entries, from which 539 players survived to make it to Day 2 of the tournament.  

There is cause for celebration as Team India has one representative in the field with the very real possibility of another gold bracelet coming home. Paawan Bansal is one of the bigger stacks with 3.4 million in chips to move into Day 3. Bansal who participated in Day 1F ended that day with 93,000 and he has only gone from strength to strength to become the third biggest chip leaders in this event going into Day 3. Another Indian player who cashed in the event was Delhi’s Raghav Bansal. Bansal busted in 1025th position for a score of $1,118.

Other big stacks include Hong Kong’s Thai Ha (4,095,000), Sang Liu (3,339,000), and Matt Silva (3,385,000). There are plenty of big names still in the hunt including WSOP bracelet winner John Racener (3,010,000), Timothy Miles (2,695,000) and Day 1E chip leader Kurt Jewell (2,260,000) just to name a few.

Among the well-known players who crashed and burned Day 2 were Joe Cada, Phil Ivey, Michael Gagliano, Matt Affleck and Valentin Vornicu. The final 32 players who remain are guaranteed a payday of a little over $17,000. These 32 will return to the Amazon Room at the Rio in about 6 hours from now to resume Day 3 and play down to the final table. Blinds will be recommencing on Level 29 at 30,000/60,000 with a 10,000 running ante. The plan is to play down to the final table, however long this takes, with 15-min breaks every two 60-minute levels and a 60-min dinner break after Level 6 (≈8:30pm).
