Scott Seiver has made history at the 2024 World Series of Poker (WSOP) by becoming the first player since Jeff Lisandro in 2009 to win three bracelets in a single series. This remarkable achievement brings Seiver’s total bracelet count to seven and positions him as a strong contender for the Poker Hall of Fame (PHOF) when he becomes eligible next year at the age of 40. His latest victory came in Event #72: $10,000 No-Limit 2-7 Lowball Draw Championship, where he outlasted 186 entrants to claim the $411,041 top prize. This win also bolsters his chances in the 2024 WSOP Player of the Year (PoY) race.
Seiver, already considered one of the all-time greats, predicted a stellar summer back in May. Reflecting on his performance, he told PokerNews, “I feel very satisfied right now. I can’t really describe it. I’m on cloud nine. This means so much to me, and it’s a step in a personal journey where I want to win a bracelet in every poker discipline.” With victories in five different variants before turning 40, Seiver is well on his way to achieving this ambitious goal.

Seiver’s three-bracelet accomplishment in one series places him in elite company, joining the likes of Lisandro (2009), Phil Ivey (2002), Ted Forrest (1993), Phil Hellmuth (1993), and Puggy Pearson (1973).
George Danzer also won three in 2014, but his first came in the World Series of Poker Asia Pacific (APAC) series. Seiver’s success in the 2-7 event holds particular significance for him. “This tournament is just unbelievably special,” he said. “In my opinion, it’s one of the most prestigious of the year, and I’ve wanted this one for a long time.”

In 2022, Seiver narrowly missed winning this same event, finishing second to Pedro Bromfman. This year, he sealed the deal, defeating Jonathan Krela heads-up.
The final day began with nine players at the Horseshoe and Paris Las Vegas. Jason Mercier, starting mid-pack, lost his 12 big blinds early to then chip leader Mike Watson. The remaining eight players moved to the feature table, where Robert Mizrachi was the first to exit after 45 minutes, losing his draw to an eight against Krela’s pat nine.
Aaron Kupin, who began as the shortest stack, managed to secure two pay jumps before being eliminated in seventh place by Jeremy Ausmus, whose eight-draw beat Kupin’s pat 10. Following a prolonged stalemate, Watson, once a contender for his first bracelet and a Triple Crown, departed in sixth place, losing a pat jack to David Lin’s eight-draw.

4 | Jeremy Ausmus | United States | $130,794 |

Hall of Famer Jennifer Harman, seeking her first bracelet in nearly 20 years, was eliminated in fifth place after a three-way all-in against Seiver and Krela. Seiver won the pot and tripled up. Five minutes later, Seiver’s Player of the Year rival, Ausmus, was knocked out with a ten-nine against Krela’s nine. Shortly after, Lin, who started the day as the chip leader, was eliminated with six big blinds, losing to Seiver.
With the shorter stacks eliminated, the heads-up battle between Seiver and Krela began with both nearly even in chips, each holding around 50 big blinds. However, after about 15 minutes, Krela made a massive over-bet after both players drew one card. Krela had a ten-eight, while Seiver held a nine-seven. Seiver made the correct call, barely covering Krela, and secured his third victory of the summer. Krela, after a brief look at the bracelet he nearly won, left the tournament area, allowing Seiver to savor his victory.
