Kristen Foxen’s journey in the 2024 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event has been nothing short of extraordinary. Starting more than a week ago as a seemingly impossible dream, navigating through a massive field of over 10,000 players, Foxen is now one of the 18 remaining players vying for the world champion title after Day 7. The field was reduced from 59 to the lucky 18 after more than five two-hour levels. These players will return tomorrow at 2 PM local time inside the Horseshoe Las Vegas Event Center to compete for a coveted spot at the final table.

Leading the pack is Malo Latinois, who finished as chip leader with 61,300,000. The French professional has already surpassed his $96,000 in total live earnings, with all remaining players guaranteed at least $350,000. The top ten chip leaders represent five different countries, with Diogo Coelho of Portugal in second place with 51,500,000. Coelho’s biggest pot of the tournament came with pocket aces, marking his first live WSOP cash as a memorable one. His previous notable win was a high roller at EPT Paris in 2023 for $857,000.
Canadian veteran pro Jason Sagle holds the third spot with 51,400,000. Sagle, who has been cashing in WSOP events for two decades, has already surpassed his best Main Event performance, finishing 23rd in 2004. He is joined in the top 10 by fellow Canadian Jason James, who aims to follow a path to WSOP glory similar to Espen Jorstad’s 2022 victory. James, who won the Tag Team event this year with partner Jimmy Setna, carries 45,800,000 into Day 8.
Swedish online poker legend Niklas Astedt, voted the best online poker player in 2021, is among the top stacks with 50,000,000. He is joined by bracelet winner Joe Serock (46,300,000) and high roller regular Brian Kim (42,400,000), whose current run already surpasses his 23rd-place finish two years ago.

However, the spotlight tomorrow will be on Kristen Foxen, who is chasing WSOP history. Nearly 30 years have passed since Barbara Enright became the first and only woman to make the Main Event final table. Foxen, the most decorated female player in WSOP history with four bracelets, aims to join her. Foxen and Vanessa Selbst are the only women to win three bracelets in open-field events.
In a tournament where female participation is often less than five percent, Foxen’s deep run could inspire another poker boom. She finished the day with 47,400,000 in fourth place, aware that women across the poker world are watching her closely. “I’m just hoping that I can show other women not to be intimidated. To feel confident, like we belong here. Let’s beat them if we want to,” Foxen said.

Foxen’s run nearly ended today when she was down to just five big blinds and all-in with ace-five against Gabriel Moura’s queens. An ace on the river saved her from elimination. She doubled up again with pocket kings against Gerardo Hernandez’s sevens and later won a big pot with trip kings against Boris Angelov, continuing her climb up the leaderboard.
“It was the most intense day I’ve ever had. Definitely needed to muster up all of my strength and perseverance because I had a couple of frustrating hands where I folded the best hand. Down to five big blinds and ran it back up, just feels great,” further added the Canadian pro. The remaining field includes players like Gabriel Moura (24,600,000), Yegor Moroz (24,500,000), Jonathan Tamayo (18,400,000), and Boris Angelov (8,300,000), all competing for the ultimate poker dream.
