WSOP 2024 Main Event: Four Indians Advance To Day 4

Day 3 of the World Series of Poker (WSOP) 2024 ended after an intense battle on the live felts. Out of the 11 Indians who had qualified for Day 3, only four have managed to bag and tag for Day 4. Players like Tarun Goyal (740,000), Kavin Shah (554,000), Santhosh Suvarna (322,000), and Siddarth Singhvi (113,000) have all stifled competition on Day 3 to make Day 4.

Day 3 of the WSOP 2024 Main Event

The 2024 World Series of Poker Main Event’s record-breaking attendance thinned slightly on Day 3, with 3,617 hopefuls converging at the Horseshoe and Paris Las Vegas. The day saw a brutal cull, leaving just 1,524 players still in contention for poker glory.

One Man’s Feast, Another’s Famine

Francisco Perez Moreno emerged as the undeniable king of Day 3. The Spanish player defied the odds, amassing a gargantuan 2,187,000 chip stack – the only player to cross the two-million mark. Attributing his success to stellar card flow, he jokingly labeled his experience “sick.” Despite primarily playing Pot-Limit Omaha (PLO) cash games, Perez Moreno looks poised to shake up the tournament scene.

While Perez Moreno reveled in his fortune, others found themselves clinging to survival. Poker legends Phil Ivey (597,000) and Erik Seidel (78,000) ended the day precariously placed, while Ethan “Rampage” Yau (504,000) sits squarely in the middle of the pack. 2021 champion Koray Aldemir (443,000) also faces an uphill battle.

Dodging The Bubble

Daniel Negreanu, despite starting with a meager 74,000 chips, managed to claw his way past the precarious bubble zone. This year marks a repeat appearance for terminally ill Cody Daniels, who stole hearts in the 2023 Main Event. Battling both his illness and the grueling tournament, Daniels secured a respectable 356,000 chip stack, vowing to push through for a potential back-to-back cash finish.

Unexpected Exits

The day wasn’t without its upsets. Bracelet winners Ali Eslami, Rep Porter, and Ben Lamb were among the early casualties. 2012 champion Greg Merson, Triple Crown winner Niall Farrell, and Mike Matusow were met with upsetting exits. Kevin Gerhart, Andrew Lichtenberger, Felipe Ramos, and Maria Konnikova succumbed to the pressure before the final level. Fan favourites Nick Schulman, Julien Sitbon, and Christoph Vogelsang all saw their Main Event dream crush on Day 3.

The Stakes Rise on Day 4

With just seven players shy of bursting the money bubble, Day 4 promises high drama. The remaining players will resume their fight for glory at noon local time, with five two-hour levels on the cards. The battle for the coveted $10 Million first-place prize intensifies, as 1,517 players will claim a share of the massive $94,041,600 prize pool. Who will rise and who will fall? Only time will tell as the WSOP Main Event marches on.
