WSOP 2024 Highlights Day 45: No Indian ME Winner This Year

Day 45 of the 2024 World Series of Poker (WSOP) at the Horseshoe and Paris Las Vegas was eventful. The day had all the excitement one expects from a poker festival. There were tough beats, packed fields, and several superstar players in attendance. The dramatic activities of the day would be complete if there were a new bracelet winner.

One of the day’s highlights was Event #81: $10,000 WSOP Main Event World Championship, where the field was narrowed down to just 160 contenders. India’s hopes were dashed when Kavin Shah and Tarun Goyal were eliminated from the Main Event. Goyal was busted at the 347th position for a sum of $45,000. Shah received a prize money of $60,000 for his 191st place finish.

Meanwhile, Stephen Song continues to lead the chip counts, though the absence of Adrian Mateos, eliminated dramatically, was notable. In the $10,000 Eight Game Mix Championship (Event #88), the competition heated up as it moved into its final day with only 22 players vying for the top prize of $413,446 and the coveted bracelet. Adam Friedman (1,098,000) holds the chip lead heading into Day 3, looking to turn around what he described as a challenging summer.

Further, Tom Koral (1,055,000) follows closely behind, while the appearance of Gus Hansen (948,000) in third has drawn considerable attention. Despite playing fewer tournaments recently, Hansen’s decision to join this event seems promising, potentially adding to his lone bracelet won 14 years ago.

Additionally, Event #86: $1,000 Mystery Bounty Pot-Limit Omaha extended into an unexpected third day due to the persistence of 463 returning players. Sascha Wilhelm (36,250,000), is leading the pack, trailed closely by Bryce Yockey and Adam Adams. With mystery bounties still in play, including one valued at $5,000, the hunt for the champion promises an exciting conclusion at 1:00 p.m. local time on July 12.

In Event #89: $3,000 Mid-Stakes Championship, Michael Moncek secured a top ten stack with 357,000 chips after Day 1a. Jonathan Newman leads the field, with notable players like Herve Gouzil also making their mark. Day 1b of this event begins at 10:00 a.m. local time on July 12, which is expected to draw a significant field aiming for a substantial prize pool.

Finally, Event #90: $1,500 6-Handed Pot-Limit Omaha saw David Shaw emerge as the chip leader with over a million chips. With 89 players advancing to Day 2, the competition remains fierce, with numerous poker luminaries still in contention.

Stay tuned for more updates and highlights from the ongoing 2024 WSOP, where every day brings new thrills and surprises to the poker world. The final day kicks off at 2:00 p.m. local time on July 12, promising more thrilling action at the tables.
