WSOP 2024 Highlights Day 42: Records Shattered, Champions Advance In ME

The 2024 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event continues to rewrite history, becoming the largest ever with a staggering 10,112 entries on Day 2D. This surge created a massive $94,041,600 prize pool, with payouts guaranteed for the top 1,517 finishers.

Livingston Leads the Charge

Day 2D chip leader Alex Livingston (750,500) emerged as a serious contender. Livingston boasts a deep run pedigree, having secured a 13th place finish in 2013 and a phenomenal third place in 2019, walking away with a cool $4 Million. His sizeable stack positions him for another potential deep run.

Familiar Faces Stack Up

Five-time bracelet winner Adam Friedman (581,000) and Stephen Song (577,000) bagged top five stacks on Day 2d. Friedman seeks a strong performance to salvage his WSOP summer after encountering frustration thus far.

Reigning Champion Back in the Race

Defending champion Daniel Weinman (229,500) mirrored his 2023 run, navigating a challenging Day 2 before quadrupling his chip stack on Day 2d. This promising trajectory echoes his 2023 Day 1d to Day 2 chip growth, raising hopes for a potential title defense.

Champions’ Club Advances

Weinman wasn’t the only past champion to progress. Joe McKeehen (309,500) and Scotty Nguyen (206,000) stacked higher than him, while Martin Jacobson (154,000), Espen Jorstad (133,000), and Ryan Riess (103,500) also secured Day 3 berths.

Action Heats Up on Day 3

With 3,617 players returning for Day 3, the pressure mounts as the money bubble looms. Five two-hour levels of intense poker await, with play resuming at noon local time on July 9th.

Racener Leads The Pack In $1,500 Eight-Game Mix

John Racener, a two-time bracelet winner, leads the final seven in Event #83: $1,500 Eight-Game Mix. Despite his lead, Racener faces a formidable group with 12 combined bracelets and millions in cashes. Day 3 kicks off at 2:00 p.m. local time on 9th July.

Ultra Stack Sees Huge Day 1D Turnout

Day 1b of the $600 Ultra Stack No-Limit Hold’em attracted a massive 4,038 players, with only 504 surviving the marathon 20-level day. Andres Korn (520,000), a seasoned player with over $3.3 Million in cashes, sits near the top of the pack. Rohit Hukmani (reported 4,125,000) may hold the overall chip lead, pending verification by PokerNews. Day 2 resumes at 1:00 PM local time on 9th July.

Flips Fly In $1K Flip & Go

Event #85: $1,000 Flip & Go saw 136 players navigate the unique flip format, progressing to the traditional No-Limit Hold’em stage. This event attracted big names like Jason Wheeler, Chance Kornuth, Patrick Leonard, and Scott Seiver.
