WSOP 2024 Highlights Day 41: Aditya Agarwal Adds To India’s Bracelet Tally

Day 41 of the World Series of Poker (WSOP) 2024 saw a mix of celebration and disappointment at the Horseshoe and Paris Las Vegas. While Aditya Agarwal emerged victorious in the $1,000 No-Limit Hold’em event, the Main Event witnessed the departure of several past champions.

Aditya Agarwal Claims First Bracelet

Aditya Agarwal emerged from a grueling Day 2 in Event #82 to claim his first WSOP bracelet and a cool $189,661. The event saw a flurry of activity in the final hours, with five players busting out in quick succession before Agarwal secured the win.

Main Event Heats Up, Marsico Leads Day 2ABC

The Main Event continued to unfold with another 206 players joining the fray during late registration. This pushed the total attendance to a staggering 9,493, just shy of the record set last year. Leading the pack after Day 2ABC is Anthony Marsico, who capitalised on a key hand to build a massive 797,000 chip stack.

Familiar Faces Depart

While dreams ended for past Main Event champions like Phil Hellmuth, Chris Moneymaker, and Jamie Gold, a few others remain in the hunt for a double championship title. Hossein Ensan, Koray Aldemir, and Scott Blumstein will carry the torch for the former champions.

The Day 2ABC survivors also include a star-studded list, with big names like Diogo Veiga, John Hennigan, John Duthie, and Daniel Negreanu (who narrowly escaped elimination) all advancing to Day 3.

Other Event Updates

  • Marco Johnson leads the $1,500 Eight-Game Mix event, with Viktor Blom trailing close behind. With both players eyeing their first WSOP bracelet, Day 2 promises to be intense.
  • Scott Seiver, a three-time WSOP champion, sits in fifth place in the $1,500 Eight-Game Mix, chasing a potential record-breaking fourth bracelet win at this series.
  • Michael Bell bagged the chip lead in the $600 Ultra Stack event, while actress Shannon Elizabeth unfortunately fell short of reaching Day 2.

The action continues on 8th July with Day 2D of the Main Event and Day 2 for the $1,500 Eight-Game Mix and $600 Ultra Stack events.
