WSOP 2024 Highlights Day 32: Eli Elezra Chases 6th Bracelet


Following a high-energy Day 31 that saw six bracelets awarded, including one to Daniel Negreanu, Day 32 of the 2024 World Series of Poker (WSOP) took on a slightly more relaxed pace. Nonetheless, the action at Horseshoe and Paris Las Vegas remained intense. Two more players claimed bracelets, while seven other events continued their journey towards awarding more.

Hector Berry Wins $600 PokerNews Deepstack Championship

In Event #62: $600 PokerNews Deepstack Championship, British player Hector Berry won a prestigious bracelet and $282,876, marking his first bracelet victory and earning a PokerNews WSOP Deepstack Gold Coin.

Mark Checkwicz Triumphs in $5,000 Seniors High Roller

The inaugural Seniors High Roller concluded with Mark Checkwicz winning Event #65: $5,000 Seniors High Roller No-Limit Hold’em. This event attracted 680 entries, creating a prize pool of $3,128,000, of which $573,876 went to Checkwicz for his first-place finish.

Elezra and Benyamine Highlights

Eli Elezra pursued his sixth bracelet, while David Benyamine made the final table in the $10k PLO Championship. Additionally, the Ladies Event commenced.

Benyamine’s Run in $10K PLO Championship

Event #66: $10,000 Pot-Limit Omaha Championship played down to its final five out of 811 entries. Joshua Adkins led with 27,085,000 chips, significantly ahead of Elie Nakache with 9,505,000. Both players aimed for the $1,320,945 top prize from the $7,542,300 prize pool. Notables like Jerry Wong, Michael Mizrachi, Niklas Astedt, Stephen Chidwick, and David Benyamine ($130,748) were eliminated on Day 3. The final action resumes at 2 PM on 29th June.

Salute to Warriors Raises $180K for Veterans

Event #67: $500 Salute to Warriors exceeded last year’s turnout with 4,517 entries, generating a $1,851,970 prize pool. With $40 from each entry donated, $180,680 was raised for United Service Organizations and other veteran groups. Day 1 ended with 678 players, and by the end of Day 2, only 17 remained. Notable survivors included Don Patrick, Daniel Cordaro, Luigi Scarpeccio, Brian Wardrup, Stanley Lee, Olga Iermolcheva, and Jamie Gold. Day 2 starts at 11 AM on 29th June.

Mike Holtz Advances in $2.5K NLH Event

Nacho Barbero led Event #68: $2,500 No-Limit Hold’em with 9,935,000 chips after Day 2, followed by 23 players from an initial 335. The field included bracelet winners Andre Akkari, Peter Park, Carl Shaw, Barry Schulman, Jin Hoon Lee, Rui Ferreira, and PokerNews Podcast co-host Mike Holtz. The prize pool was $4,959,525, with the top seven finishers securing six-figure payouts and $667,963 for the winner. Play resumes at noon on 29th June.

Eli Elezra Pursues Sixth Bracelet in $1,500 Seven Card Stud Hi-Lo

With 17 players left, Eli Elezra positioned himself in the middle of the pack in Event #69: $1,500 Seven Card Stud Hi-Lo 8 or Better. From a starting field of 611, only 92 players were paid from the $815,685 prize pool. Day 2 eliminations included Brian Hastings, Matt Grapenthien, and Patrick Leonard. Russell Hudson busted on the bubble, followed by notable exits from David “Bakes” Baker, Phil Hellmuth, Adam Friedman, and Barry Greenstein. Christian Roberts led with 2,380,000 chips, with Elezra, Yuval Bronshtein, and Ryutaro Suzuki also remaining. Day 3 begins at 1 PM on 29th June.

Day 1A of Colossus Draws 4,643 Entries

Event #70: $400 Colossus had 4,643 players on Day 1a, with two more Day 1 flights remaining. Dohang Na led with 1,659,000 chips, and 588 players advanced, including Tom McEvoy, Justin Pechie, Ari Engel, and Steven Wolansky. Day 1b starts at 10 a.m. on June 29, followed by Day 1c, with Day 2 beginning on 1st July at 11 AM. 

Irene Carey Leads Ladies Championship

Event #71: $1,000 Ladies No-Limit Hold’em saw 1,245 entries, nearly matching last year’s record. Irene Carey led with 413,500 chips, followed by Anastasia Knapp. Notable players advancing included defending champion Tamar Abraham, Jessica Teusl, Kathy Liebert, Loni Hui, Lexy Gavin-Mather, and Ebony Kenney. Day 2 begins at noon on 29th June.

Glantz, Deeb, and Foxen in Top Ten of 2-7 Lowball Championship

Event #72: $10,000 No-Limit 2-7 Lowball Triple Draw Championship ended Day 1 with Matt Glantz, Shaun Deeb, and Alex Foxen in the top ten, trailing chip leader Naoya Kihara. With 129 entries, the prize pool was $1,218,300, expected to grow with late registration on Day 2. Notables advancing included Robert Mizrachi, Erik Seidel, Dario Sammartino, and Nick Schulman. Day 2 action resumes at 1 PM on 29th June.
