WSOP 2024 Highlights Day 24: Adam Friedman Close To Winning Fourth Bracelet


The action was intense at the Horseshoe and Paris Las Vegas as Day 24 of the 2024 World Series of Poker unfolded, with four bracelet winners crowned yesterday and three more joining their ranks today.

Maksim Pisarenko Wins $10K H.O.R.S.E. Championship

Maksim Pisarenko earned the nickname “the Phoenix” for his numerous double-ups in Event #45: $10,000 H.O.R.S.E. Championship. The tournament saw several unexpected comebacks, eventually extending into an unscheduled fifth day. Pisarenko emerged victorious against Mike Leah in a heads-up battle, winning the event and a prize of $399,988.

Erlend Melsom Triumphs In $3K Freezeout No-Limit Hold’em

Erlend Melsom, primarily a PLO player, secured his first bracelet by winning Event #49: $3,000 Freezeout No-Limit Hold’em. Melsom admitted he might play more Hold’em after his $523,195 victory.

George Alexander Secures $10K Razz Championship Bracelet

After a 15-year pursuit, George Alexander finally won his first bracelet in Event #50: $10,000 Razz Championship.

Greg Raymer Busts in Seniors Event

Event #46: $1,000 Seniors No-Limit Hold’em Championship saw an initial 7,954 entries, creating a prize pool of $6,999,520. Only 208 players made it to Day 2, and now just 26 remain. Marc Wolpert leads with 17,900,000 chips, closely followed by Andrew Bradshaw and Shawn Stuart. 

Notable players who cashed include Tamas Lendvai, Matt Salsberg, Greg Raymer, and the husband-and-wife duo Jennifer Frankenstein and Brian Harris. Day 4 starts on 22nd June at 11:00 AM.

Turbo Nguyen Leads in $5K NLHE 6-Handed

Event #52: $5,000 No-Limit Hold’em 6-Handed has Turbo Nguyen leading with 2,700,000 chips, just ahead of Lucas Blanco with 2,645,000. The event drew 817 entries, creating a prize pool of $3,762,800 and a top prize of $656,747. 

The day’s action saw several notable players, including Pete Chen, Josh Arieh, Andrew Lichtenberger, Jack Sinclair, and Joe McKeehen, fall short of the money. Day 3 begins on June 22 at 12:00 PM  with 37 players remaining.

Adam Friedman Pursues Another Mixed Game Bracelet

Event #53: $3,000 Nine Game Mix attracted 379 entries, challenging players with nine different poker variants. Adam Friedman, a standout player with five bracelets, is in second place after Day 2. Ashish Gupta leads the remaining 16 players, but Friedman is poised to make a strong push. 

Other notable players still in contention include Yuri Dzivielevski, Richard Ashby, and Koray Aldemir. Day 3 starts on 22nd June at 1:00 PM.

Main Event Champs Advance in Millionaire Maker Day 1A

Joe Cada and Martin Jacobson, both former Main Event champions, survived Day 1A of Event #54: $1,500 Millionaire Maker No Limit Hold’em, which drew 2,802 entries. Ori Elul leads with 673,500 chips, followed by Muaaz Gani and Philip Verel. 

Other notable players advancing to Day 2 include Landon Tice, Barny Boatman, and Dan Shak. Day 1B begins on 22nd June at 10:00 AM.

Sean Winter leads $250K High Roller

Sean Winter leads Event #55: $250,000 Super High Roller No-Limit Hold’em after Day 1, with 45 players bagging chips. Late registration remains open until the end of level 10 on Day 2, so the field of 58 entries and $14,442,000 prize pool is expected to grow. 

Top players such as Adrian Mateos, Jonathan Jaffe, Leon Sturm, and Chance Kornuth are among the leaders. Phil Ivey registered late and will join the action on 22nd June at 12:00 PM.

Deeb and Eveslage Lead In Mixed Triple Draw

Event #56: $2,500 Mixed Triple Draw drew 371 entries, competing in three variants of triple draw lowball poker. Ryan Ko leads with 343,000 chips, followed by notable players like Ari Engel, Carol Fuchs, Roland Israelashvili, and Allen Kessler. Shaun Deeb and Chad Eveslage are in the top 10 heading into Day 2, which starts on 22nd June at 1:00 PM.
