Day 20 of the 2024 World Series of Poker (WSOP) at Horseshoe and Paris Las Vegas saw fewer events but a significant number of participants. An impressive 2,831 players returned for Day 2 of the $1,500 Monster Stack, filling tables across both venues. As the Monster Stack field shrank to a more manageable size, one of poker’s elite players claimed a coveted WSOP bracelet.
James Obst from Australia triumphed in Event #42: $10,000 Seven Card Stud Championship, overcoming Paul Volpe in a lengthy heads-up duel. This victory marked Obst’s second career bracelet, while Volpe fell short of joining the four-time winners’ club.

In Event #41: No-Limit Hold’em/Pot-Limit Omaha Double Board Bomb Pot, a new addition this year, Xixiang Luo emerged victorious after an intense heads-up battle with Daniel Hachem. Luo proved to be a deserving champion, although Hachem’s valiant effort made the final outcome uncertain.
Phil Ivey recently added his 11th WSOP bracelet, closing the gap on Phil Hellmuth. However, Hellmuth is now in contention for his 18th bracelet in Event #43: $1,500 Mixed Omaha, where he holds a top-six stack among the remaining 22 players.

Lima, with over $1.1 Million in live tournament earnings, could add $1,098,220 and a WSOP bracelet to his accolades if he wins this event. The money bubble burst with John Allen’s elimination in 1,307th place, guaranteeing the remaining players at least $5,455. Final table participants will secure six-figure payouts.
