WSOP 2024 Day 16: Ivey Aiming At Bracelet 11, 3 Indians In Event 36

Day 16 of the World Series of Poker (WSOP) 2024 at the Horseshoe and Paris Las Vegas was set to have three players walking away with shiny bracelets. However, only two events crowned their champions, with the $10,000 Limit 2-7 Triple Draw Championship moving to an unscheduled fourth day.

The first bracelet awarded on Day 16 went to Evan Benton, who triumphed in Event #28: $1,500 No-Limit Hold’em Freezeout. Andres Gonzalez entered the final day with a substantial chip lead over his 21 opponents but ultimately finished in third place, earning $201,518. Benton emerged as the winner, capturing his first bracelet and a career-best prize of $412,484.

Day 2 of Event #30: $600 Mixed No-Limit Hold’em/Pot-Limit Omaha saw 145 players return, yet the tournament managed to crown its champion. Alen Bakovic emerged victoriously, securing a bracelet and $207,064 after an action-packed day full of excitement.

$10K 2-7 Triple Draw Championship fails to crown a champion

Event #29: $10,000 Limit 2-7 Lowball Triple Draw Championship was scheduled to play down to a winner, but time was called with three players remaining, much to the frustration of Phil Ivey, who mentioned he had a flight to catch.

Ivey returns as the shortest stack, with 11 big bets, but it would be unwise to discount the Poker Hall of Famer’s chances of winning his 11th WSOP bracelet.

Six-time bracelet winner Jason Mercier returns second in chips, with 15 big bets, while Danny Wong sits with 19 big bets in his quest to become a two-time WSOP champion and cause a major upset.

The talented trio will resume their battle at 4:00 p.m. local time on June 13 for an unscheduled Day 4, continuing until one player remains.

David Coleman in a dominant position at the $3K NLHE 6-Max FT

David Coleman is in an enviable position as the overwhelming chip leader heading into the final table of Event #31: $3,000 6-handed No-Limit Hold’em. Coleman returns with more than three times as many chips as his five opponents and has a strong chance of winning the bracelet and the $516,135 top prize.

Sixty-one players returned for the penultimate day, but a steady stream of eliminations left only the final six. Coleman’s massive stack makes him the favorite to capture his first WSOP bracelet, but the five other finalists will not make it easy for him.

Ukraine’s Konstantyn Holsky is closest to Coleman in chip counts, with Nicholas Seward just one big blind behind him.

Nikolaos Angelou has ten big blinds, while Stephen Buell and Akinobu Maeda are in push-or-fold territory as soon as play resumes.

The final table starts at 3:00 PM local time on June 13, with coverage beginning at 4:00 PM local time, as PokerGO is streaming the action.

$1,500 Stud Event Reaches Final Nine With Noori Leading

Team Lucky is poised for a points boost in the $25K Fantasy Draft as one of their picks, Michael Noori, is the chip leader in Event #32: $1,500 Seven Card Stud, with only nine players remaining. Noori leads an all-star cast going into Day 3.

Noori holds the chip lead, but his margin over Adam Owen is a slender one big bet. Owen’s fellow countryman Richard “Chufty” Ashby returns in third place, with bracelet winners Brandon Shack-Harris and Chris Tryba also in contention.

Hal Rotholz, a pick for Team Noori, is through to the final day, as is Aaron Kupin of Team Chingas, though Kupin is currently last in chips. Mengqi Chen and Jaycin Cross are the other two finalists aiming to stop Noori’s run. Day 3 begins at 1:00 PM local time on 13th June and continues until a winner is crowned.

Indians at WSOP 2024

There are three Indian players grinding in Event 36 $800 8-Handed No-Limit Hold’em DeepStack. Here, players like Anil Adiani, Ashish Anilkumar and Sanat Mehrotra are grinding in Day 1 looking to bag for Day 2. Ankit Ahuja was also in contention but sadly busted in the 367th position.
