WSOP 2019: Nishant Sharma, Romit Advani make Day 3 of BIG 50

Everyone’s talking about Event #3: BIG 50 – $500 NLHE that is currently underway since the last 3 days at the World Series of Poker (WSOP) in Las Vegas. Over 6,000 entries registered on Day 1A, where nine Indians made it through to Day 2A. Next, we had Day 1B, where another 5 Indians made the cut in another massive field of 6,095 entries, taking the total field up to 12,243 entries.

Last year, a WSOP record was set in the form of 13,070 entries that emerged in the Colossus, but this record is very much in threat of being smashed, with Day 1C and 1D still left to be played. The 5 Indians who progressed from the second starting flight were Siddharth Mundada (509k), Nishant Sharma (477k), Romit Advani (343k), Ronak Vyas (232k) and PokerStars Team Pro Muskan Sethi (145k).

However, Mundada wasn’t fortunate enough to play through the entire Day 2B, as only two of these 5 progressed to Day 3. This included Nishant Sharma (1.18 million) and Romit Advani (1.09 million), both of whom have above-average stacks going into Day 3, where they will play alongside Vivek Rughani and Dhawal Lachhwani who progressed from Day 2A.

The current chip leader from Day 2B is Jerald Williamson who bagged 4.1 million chips, but our Indian duo is also well stacked, as only three total players bagged over 3 million chips. The competition is stiff with several past bracelet winners in the mix, including 7-time bracelet winner Men Nguyen.

Day 2B Top 10 chip counts:

  1. Jerald Williamson – 4,105,000
  2. Daniel Hughes – 3,200,000
  3. Azad Arazm – 3,030,000
  4. Michael Kamran – 2,800,000
  5. David Towson – 2,540,000
  6. Duane Gerleman – 2,450,000
  7. David Yach – 2,350,000
  8. Jason Baldridge – 2,320,000
  9. Justin Liberto – 2,235,000
  10. Jerimiah Booher – 2,235,000

Day 3 will be played on 5th June but before that, there are a couple of starting flights still to be played and we expect some more Indian players to progress and hopefully, even bring back a bracelet in the BIG 50 Event.
