WSOP 2019: 6 Indians progress to Day 2 of Event #82

The World Series of Poker (WSOP) is in its final few days at the Rio All Suites Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas and there’s no Indian left in the prestigious Main Event, with Kartik Ved making an outstanding run to eventually finish in 51st place for $173k. However, hopes of a bracelet are still alive as a few tournaments are yet to declare their winners.

One of them is Event #82: $1,500 Double Stack No-Limit Hold’em which kicked off earlier today and due to its relatively lower buy-in, we saw a total field of 2,589 entries registering on the first day, with more than 80% of this field being eliminated by the end of the day’s play which included a long and tiring grind of 20 levels.

Among the 350-odd players who managed to catch a bag to Day 2 were several bracelet winners and even former WSOP Main Event champion, Greg Raymer. US pro Mike Leah bagged the overnight chip lead with 1.62 million chips in play and we had our very own Kalyan Chakravarthy also finishing in the top 5 with 1.17 million chips.

A total of 6 Indian survivors will continue on Day 2 tomorrow and apart from Chakravarthy, these are Karan Radia (778,000), Himmat Singh (726,000), Kunal Punjwani (705,000), Goonjan Mall (266,000) and Sachidananda Sivakumar (102,000). All are assured a cash prize with 389 players finishing in the money for a min-cash of $2,249.
