WSOP 2019: 15 Indians cash in Crazy Eights Event

We’re a day away from the start of the prestigious World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event and it has probably never been a bigger stage, this being the 50th anniversary of the poker festival too. Currently, Event #64: $888 Crazy Eights No-Limit Hold’em is underway with Day 2 playing out its last few hands.

Across the four starting flights, we saw a field of 15 Indians managing to progress to Day 2 which included 8 progressing from Day 1D itself, led by Tarun Goyal and Rahul Byrraju. Unluckily for both of them, they were among the first from Team India to bust today even though they had healthy chip stacks to their name.

Since all were in the money today, 15 of 15 Indians in the mix cashed for small amounts, beating last year’s Crazy Eights tally of 6 Indians cashing. It just goes to show how the game is growing in our country and how very soon, we could have thousands of players in Vegas each year for the World Series.

Baadshah Gaming’s Madhav Gupta was the chip leader among Indian players on Day 1C and he rode the advantage on Day 2, being the last man standing from Team India. Eventually, he hit the rail too, finishing in 188th place for $5,938 (~INR 4.09 Lakh) which turned out to be the biggest of his 4 WSOP 2019 cashes so far.

All Indians to cash:

  • 188th – Madhav Gupta – $5,938
  • 271st – Lawrence Xavier – $4,424
  • 432nd – Ashish Ahuja – $3,013
  • 461st – Siddharth Mundada – $3,013
  • 731st – Naresh Veeravalli – $2,202
  • 780th – Raghav Bansal – $2,015
  • 853rd – Karik Ved – $1,859
  • 890th – Rohan Roshi – $1,859
  • 937th – Rahul Byrraju – $1,729
  • 958th – Kunal Patni – $1,729
  • 985th – Navkiran Singh – $1,729
  • 1,038th – Meherzad Munsaf – $1,622
  • 1,064th – Akshay Nasa – $1,622
  • 1,073rd – Sanjay Taneja – $1,622
  • 1,093rd – Tarun Goyal – $1,500

At the time of writing this, there were still around 150 players in play, all vying for the top prize of $888,888 and a shiny new gold bracelet. Among the top stacks were bracelet winners Mark Radoja, Scott Davies, Ryan Leng and others. For an update on who goes on to ship the Crazy Eights Event, stay tuned to GutshotMagazine.com.
