WPT Vietnam: Pham Minh Tuan leads 53 survivors on Day 1B


The World Poker Tour (WPT) kicked off with Season XVII Asia-Pacific and Day 1B of the 2019 WPT Vietnam Main Event VND 15 billion GTD concluded at the Pro Poker Club in Ho Chi Minh City. The tournament has attracted myriads of people belonging to different regions and Indians are never far behind!

The largest stack of the day belonged to Pham Minh Tuan leading among 121 players who signed in for Day 1B with only 53 advancing to witness the biggest day at the VND 55 million buy-in tournament. Minh Tuan bagged 244,500 chips followed the Korean Lee Sang In with 217,600 chips.

Besides, an opportunity like this was a prime attraction for a massive number of Indians progressing to Day 2 including Rubin Labroo (3rd), Alok Birewar (19th), Ashish Munot (22nd), Vaibhav Sharma (23rd), Akshay Nasa (24th), the WSOP bracelet winner Abhinav Iyer (25th), Srihari Bang (28th), Sriharsha Doddapaneni (34th), Neeraj Kumar (37th), Jaideep Sajwan (38th), Ronak Vyas (40th), Aditya Agarwal (43rd), Sahil Agarwal (48th), and Jayjit Ray (49th). They will join 2 other Indians who progressed from Day 1A.

Nonetheless, Day 1B of Vietnam fascinated few new faces and various other outstanding players, like Hamish Crawshaw with 176,700 chips, Tran Anh Trung with 172,500 chips, and Tiang Liang Guan with 144,500.

  3. Rubin Labroo – 188,000
  4. Hamish Crawshaw – 176,700
  5. Tran Anh Trung – 172,500

  9. Lewis Higham – 140-,900
  10. Doan Tieu Thanh – 139,800

Despite the number of players participating and leading on particular days, Christopher Mateo is still at the top amassing 272,000 in Day 1A. The upcoming Day 1C will kick off on September 8th. With the Main Event carrying a huge amount of VND 15 billion, it will surely attract more entries.
