WPT India third edition begins today in Goa!

There’s so much happening in the Indian poker industry right now that it’s hard to keep a track. Just last month, we saw the return of the India Poker Championship (IPC), where we witnessed a record-breaking field of 777 entries in the Main Event. Just yesterday, the Baazi Poker Tour (BPT) also completed its return series, where Bharat Kumar ended as the Main Event champion.

Now, we’re set for yet another major series to begin, this time being the World Poker Tour (WPT) which is returning for its third run India, having debuted in Goa in 2017. In 2017, Vikash Mantri topped a field of 527 entries to win the WPT Main Event while Nikunj Jhunjhunwala beat 697 entries in 2018, becoming the biggest winner in live poker in India.

Such a major international brand hosting a series in India is great for the sport in this country and we’re set for another edition of the series, scheduled between 15-21 October on board the Deltin Royale Casino in River Mandovi. Once again, a total of 8 tournaments have been scheduled including the INR 55k Main Event which has a whopping promised guarantee of INR 3.25 Crore!

The big prize pool isn’t the only attraction at WPT India as the brand has also invited 4-time WSOP bracelet winner Robert Mizrachi to come to the series. With over $7.5 million in live cashes, there’s a lot you can learn from the poker pro and you have a chance to meet him through a special promotion called ‘Winners Meet’ on Adda52!

The action and fun begin today in Goa with the 20k Kickoff NLH and we’re expecting many international pros to be a part of the action too. The tournament has a starting stack of 15,000 chips and the defending champion is Aditya Sushant who beat 201 entries to win the top prize of INR 9,35,000!
