World Series Of Poker announces Dates For $1,500 Events


Mark your calendars for biggest ever poker series spread across two months, the World Series of Poker (WSOP), set to run from 26 May to 15 July 2020 at Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas and yesterday WSOP announced 25 tournaments with a buy-in of $1,500!

The WSOP Vice President, Jack Effel said, “We have found the $1,500 price point to be the sweet spot in poker, perfectly balancing affordability, field size and prize pool to offer great value for participating players. As we continue to cater our offerings to find something for everyone, the $1,500 buy-ins remain a core staple of the WSOP.”

The 51st annual WSOP will comprise of 25 different live tournaments at $1,500 buy-in level featuring unique format encompassing 18 different game types, with a dozen of these events utilizing freezeout format.

According to WSOP, the $1,500 buy-in has been consistent at the WSOP since 1977, when $1,500 No-Limit Hold’em event attracted 38 players and generated a prize pool of $57,000. It was Louis Hunsaker from Texas who shipped the gold bracelet and $34,200 for his victory. And last year the WSOP hosted a total of eight $1,500 No-Limit Hold’em with an average of 3,332 players pouncing on the field, a $4.49 million prize pool and $642,173 first-place prize money. In 2020 WSOP, 10 of the 25 tournaments will be of the No-Limit Hold’em variety and 12 will utilize the freezeout format.

Effel also stated, “New events are always a result of player input and we’re thankful to have received many great suggestions this year. The 2020 WSOP is chock-full of new events, new price points and a little mystery sure to resonate with poker players everywhere. We can’t wait to open our doors and get things started.”

Several $1,500 buy-in tournaments in 2020 WSOP will have a leaderboard. Players chasing in these selected events will earn points throughout the summer along with prizes. And now with the latest announcement, we have 81 events on the schedule!
