William Ferguson Passes Away at 66


William Ferguson, a popular poker player from Sacramento, America, passed away earlier this month, according to reports. Ferguson has mostly played in the World Series of Poker tournaments and has seen money in several. The cause of his demise is not immediately known.

All about William Ferguson

Ferguson made ~$100K during his lifetime at the felts. His best live cash was $66,782, which he achieved at the World Series of Poker Circuit Event #1 in 2024. In poker circles, he was known as William ‘Skip’ Ferguson.

Ferguson first saw money at a poker game in 2008, when he ranked 10th at a No Limit Hold’em Event at the  Peppermill Fall Poker Tournament, Reno. He has mostly played live poker in the USA.  He made waves when he won his first WSOPC ring in January 2024.

He did that by beating a field of 1,458 at Event #1: $400 NLH “The Opener” The win gave Ferguson a career-high $66,782 cash and his first WSOP Circuit Ring at WSOPC. In all, he had six WSOP cashouts in a career spanning more than two decades.

Florida’s Ryan Estrada, who was just beginning to make his mark in the poker industry, was tragically killed in a motorcycle accident in 2024. One of the most shocking deaths of poker players last year was of Matthew Bergart, who was shot at during a targetted heist. Another shocking demise for the poker community was Kate De Sol, the Swedish-Indian poker player who succumbed to a heart attack last year.
